Welcome to 43DA021 Brian

December 13, 2008 by Darren

The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is pleased to introduce to you our latest member from OC-001 who is 43DA021 Brian.  Formerly 43AT021 and 43AT121 respectively, Brian hails from Ceduna in South Australia and is regarded as one of the Oceania’s finest and most successful DXers.

Famous for its mouth watering oversized oysters, Brian’s QTH Ceduna is located on the Far West Coast of South Australia, on the scenic shores of Murat Bay on the Great Australian Bight, approximately 800 km from Adelaide and 1900 road km to Perth.  It is set amidst a patch work of grain farms, natural bushland and rugged rocky bays, secluded white sandy beaches and ever changing seas, making it one of the loveliest DX-stinations in the country.

With over 200 DXCC to his credit and countless IOTA and LOTA activations, Brian enters DA-RC via the DX Chaser classification and hopes to add to that tally courtesy of his monsterous 6 element yagi antenna when Cycle 24 eventually kicks in.  Brian is also experienced with Special Event Station (SES) activities, having conducted a successful SES as 43AT/2000/H to commemorate the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

When he’s not in the radio shack and behind the microphone chasing most wanted DX entities, 43DA021 Brian loves to take to Ceduna’s beaches for a spot of fishing, chasing huge mulloway, flathead, salmon, trout, king george whiting, the odd big Snapper and Blue Swimmer Crabs.  He also likes to get out to the coastline and admire the Southern Right Whales which migrate from the South Pole to the Head of the Bight to mate.

On behalf of all DA-RC members and the World Headquarters Team, welcome to the Club 43DA021 Brian.

Welcome to 43DA020 Geoff

November 21, 2008 by Darren

Joining the burgeoning ranks of 43 DA-RC is 43DA020 Geoff from Australia’s Far North Queensland.  Formerly 43AT146, 43TR051 and 43LD120 respectively over a period of 30 years behind the microphone, OC-001′s Geoff is now with the Dx Adventure Radio Club and brings with him an abundance of 11m know-how and DX chasing accomplishments second to none in the Oceania region.

One of 43 Divisions leading Freeband DXers, Geoff gladly trades his microphone and the comfort of his immaculately kept Icom themed radio shack for the fibreglass feel of a fishing rod when spare time permits, chasing giant Barramundi and Mangrove Jack on lures and soft plastics in the State’s far northern waterways.

It’s this same strength of mind and a love of the thrill of the chase which Geoff applies to hunting ‘most wanted’ DX contacts – which explains his presence in the majority of the world’s premier DXpedition logs over the last decade!

On behalf of the World Headquarters Team and all DA-RC members, it’s a very warm welcome to 43DA020 Geoff.  We look forward to enjoying the hobby with you and speaking on the air when propogation allows.

Welcome 43DA162 Brett

November 13, 2008 by Darren

DA-RC is delighted to herald the signing of 43DA162 Brett to the club.  One of Oceania’s elite 11m DXers and a mainstay of Freeband DX in Australia, Brett farewells a five year association with Alfa Tango to concentrate his efforts with Team DA-RC and is super excited to be part of the line-up.

Starting out in the hobby back in February 1980, Brett brings with him more than 25 year’s experience and a reputation as arguably 43 Division’s number one DXer.

Whether it’s as front man for one of New South Wales’ most dynamic heavy rock bands, as a retired serviceman in the Australian Navy, or as a former life saver safeguarding the beaches of his home town, 43DA162 Brett lives and dies by the philosophy that one should “live life to the fullest”.

In his down time though, Brett enjoys spending time with his wife Marty and diminutive dog Nipper in his small country town in Northern NSW, as well as keeping physically fit, snorkelling in the nearby Pacific Ocean, enjoying picnics on the beach and watching his favourite sport rugby league on television.

A portable DX enthusiast, in addition to work behind the mic in his home radio shack where he has undertaken special event (SES) operations for his previous group, Brett has his sights set on some of the extraordinary lighthouses along OC-001′s east coast for some Lighthouse On The Air (LOTA) activity in the near future and joining with other members of the 43 division DA-RC Team for ‘most wanted’ dx adventure.

On behalf of the World Headquarters Team and all DA-RC Members, welcome to the Club 43DA162 Brett.

Welcome to 14DA062 Eric

October 27, 2008 by Darren

The Dx Adventure Radio Club continues to attract outstanding candidates to its ranks with the recent signing of one of Europe’s most proficient DXers in 14DA062 Eric.  Founder of the Golf Tango and Sierra Sierra DX Groups respectively, a past member of Alfa Tango, a former high ranking official with Sugar Delta, and a current Cluster dk Lounge Member, Eric qualifies for DA-RC membership via the Leadership classification and, with over 250 DXCC worked and confirmed, the DX Hunter classification also.

An experienced conductor of Special Event Station work also through efforts with GT and SD, Eric is committed to contributing to DA-RC’s dx adventure schedule in the future and looks forward to linking with other members of the French team to achieve these goals. Furthermore, this experience and unique skill set ensures Eric will also prove a valuable asset for the Club’s Mentor Program which sees experienced DXers assigned to new and/or interested members and others seeking to achieve membership status with the World’s most prestigious DX Group.

Outside of the radio communications hobby, Eric is a committed family man and enjoys getting out and about with them in the beautiful French Countryside.  Like many radio hobbyists in modern times, Eric also enjoys studying facets of the hobby such as antenna construction and propagation forecasts on the internet, reading product reviews on the latest Yaesu products and more!

On behalf of the World Headquarters Team and the DA-RC membership body, welcome 14DA062 Eric to the Club.  It is an honour to have you on board.
