*WELCOME 47DA103 Soren

The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is proud to welcome our first ever member from the Kingdom of Denmark – 47DA103 Soren – to our international team of passionate DX craftsmen…

With decades of experience in the hobby, a great station, and a deep love for radio comms, Soren is an exciting addition to the DA-RC family indeed, linking with our club in mid March 2026 armed with+ an incredible DX resume!

Well respected due to his no nonsense approach to DXing and cool on-air manner, 47DA103 Soren brings with him an impressive 36 years of radio comms experience…

In fact, many Hunters around the bands may recognize this guy’s previous callsigns – 47WH101, 47IR011, 47AT103, and 47DK103 – on each occasion providing excellent contributions to his respective club.

Upon joining DA-RC, Soren chose to keep his long-standing and recognizable unit number 103, now proudly becoming 47DA103 on the airwaves.

47DA103 Soren operates from a picturesque island in southeastern Denmark…

With clear horizons and proximity to the Baltic Sea, the region provides excellent propagation opportunities, making it an ideal base for an enthusiastic DX operator such as him.

Situated in Northern Europe, the Kingdom of Denmark is a fascinating country made up of the Jutland Peninsula and hundreds of islands on the air opportunities scattered between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea…

Denmark shares its southern border with Germany (13 Division), while across the surrounding waters lie its Scandinavian neighbours Sweden (21) and Norway (20).

The capital city, Copenhagen, is famous for its colourful harbour districts, historic architecture, and world-leading cycling culture.

Visitors to the city often stop to see the iconic The Little Mermaid statue, inspired by the beloved fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.

47DA103 Soren’s country is a place where history and modern culture blend seamlessly…

From the legacy of the Vikings to cutting-edge Scandinavian design, the nation offers a unique mix of heritage and innovation.

Famous attractions include the historic amusement park Tivoli Gardens and the impressive Kronborg Castle—the legendary setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

The country is also known for its welcoming culture and the Danish concept of hygge, which celebrates comfort, warmth, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

In addition to his activity on the world’s greatest HF DX band, 47DA103 Soren is also a licensed amateur radio operator, like many of his fellow members…

His interests in the hobby revolve primarily around DXing, ragchewing, and shortwave listening, while he also enjoys operating on the amateur bands using FT8 and CW.

After taking a long break from the hobby, this prominent DX-Guy returned to the elven meter band community in September 2025 after 25 years away, quickly re-establishing himself as one of the leading DX Hunters in the Scandinavia region.

Since his return he has quickly made his presence known, already working 152 DXCC divisions, with 64 confirmed, an impressive achievement in such a short period of time.

These credentials satisfy DA-RC membership requirements in the DX Chaser category.

47DA103 Soren’s station is built for serious DX work…

He operates an ICOM IC-7300 transceiver paired with a 1 kW amplifier, feeding a powerful 6-element quad antenna system, at great heights!

This setup allows him to push strong signals across the globe while pulling in distant stations from the noise, on a band where listening counts.

We’re excited to reveal that 47DA103 Soren has a taste for DXpedition adventure…

In the early 2000s he was active from the Sjaelland Archipelago as 47IR/EU-029, operating from islands within the archipelago that surrounds the Danish island of Zealand.

The Sjaelland Archipelago, in fact, is one of the recognised groups in the Islands On The Air (IOTA) program and includes numerous islands scattered throughout the waters around Zealand.

This experience gave Soren a taste of island ops and the excitement of working pile-ups from rare locations – we’re hoping it will be the catalyst of things to come with his DA-RC hat on.

Looking ahead, 47DA103 Soren has expressed interest in potentially activating local IOTA islands again in the future—something that could see him representing DA-RC in exciting island operations.

For QSLing, Soren prefers electronic confirmations due to rising postal costs, although he will QSL first, making it easy for stations around the world to confirm contacts.

On behalf of all members of the Dx Adventure Radio Club, we extend a very warm welcome to 47DA103 Soren.

We look forward to hearing his signal booming through the pile-ups and sharing many great DX moments together.

Welcome to the adventure, Soren — 73 and good DX from the DA-RC Team!
