The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is excited to reveal that experienced DXpedition enthusiast 43DA148 Peter will soon be QRV from the west African country of Sierra Leone.
A trip back in time reveals that Peter was part of the DA-RC team which nailed down 2000+ contacts for 217DA/0 on Christmas Island back in 2011.
He’s also delivered successful operations in Liberia (42DA/DX) and several Islands On The Air (IOTA) destinations in Europe (EU) and Australia.
Like his previous efforts in the field of dx adventure, Peter’s 2025 exploits in Sierra Leone will, no doubt, be a highlight of this year’s DX Calendar for all serious DX Hunters.
One of the rarest AF DXCC entities, according to Freeband DX archives, Sierra Leone is bordered on the north and east by Guinea (293), on the south by Liberia (42), and on the west by the mighty Atlantic Ocean.
Beneath all the beauty of a country which comprises a breathtaking harbour, coastal plains and thick wooded forest atop rocky hills and mountains, though, lies emotional remnants of a brutal civil war which, to this day, still simmers away, in the hearts and minds of its locals.
Through extensive reconnaissance which includes communication with the local Creole contacts, Peter has obtained ham friendly accommodation with notable take-offs to major DX markets, particularly EU and the Americas.
Most importantly, it’s a safe and guarded community for him to reside whilst he meets employment goals with the Sierra Leone Government, and 11m DX log targets.
DA-RC HQ is happy to reveal that Peter’s DX work will be weaponized with an impressive portable station.
It will include a lightweight Skypper antenna, purchased from 1AT90 Ivan in Italy, a 100 watt Kenwood TS-570S transceiver and several high-end DX-cessories.
For more information on this exciting DXpedition, such as dates, windows of operation, QSL Manager coordinates, QRGs, and more, as well as others conducted by members of the DA-RC, please check out the links in the right-hand side menu under ‘DXpedition Work’.
Very nice DX Station very short contact with R5 and S7 i did catch on 27610 USB.
