WBA Monthly Report: February 2026

The month of February concluded with an extraordinary balance of ability, desire and luck in the sphere of WBA dx adventure…

The combination of favourable propagation and the exceptional technical skills of our WBA activators transformed every reference into a true marathon of Freeband DX signals!

Performance Analysis: The Month’s “Top Scorers”

In a circuit where speed and precision in logging are essential, here is who made the difference in terms of contacts (QSO):

The Iberian Sentinel: 30DA010 (Sergio)

A standout performance from Spain, 30DA010 Sergio dominated the airwaves from the Cullera Castle, managing a complex portable setup to secure 140 QSOs.

His precision in handling the pile-up from such a historic height was a masterclass in COTA (Castles On The Air) activation.

Indeed, the Mediterranean soul spoke loudly through 30DA010 Sergio and his activation of the Cullera Castle. Overlooking the Valencian coast, this Wonderful Castle provided a strategic vantage point where history met technology, sending signals from its medieval walls across all of Europe.

Note: The activation of Cullera Castle by Sergio (30DA010) ranks solidly in the Top 10, highlighting the prestige of Spanish COTA references in our circuit.

The Pile-up King: 34DA010 (Tenerife)

With an incredible 369 QSOs achieved during the Carnival of Santa Cruz (B), they take the top spot for a single activation.

Operating as a Base Station, they managed a relentless flow of calls, bringing the energy of the Canary Islands to the entire world.

Sardinia’s Tireless Hero: 165DA101

The man of the month for consistency and total volume.

He activated 5 different sites, finishing on a high note today at Santa Cristina with 155 QSOs.

His ability to operate in Portable and Field modes is impressive:

  • 181 QSOs from Guroneddu (A record performance for a field activation)
  • 174 QSOs from Lake Forru
  • 155 QSOs from the Sacred Well of Santa Cristina (A grand finale for the month). In total, he logged over 800 contacts, a testament to extraordinary strength and passion.

The Guardians of Lighthouses and Parks

  • 34DA183: A solid guarantee from the Canaries with 303 QSOs from the Punta Abona Lighthouse and 259 from the Carnival (A).
  • 90DA101: From Greece, they tamed the pile-up at Keri Forest, bringing home 169 QSOs.
  • 14DA001: An excellent result from the peaks of Vercors in France with 149 QSOs, despite the logistical challenges of high altitude.

The Journey: Descriptions of Activated Locations

Cliffs and Oceans

The month began under the sign of the Atlantic with the Punta Abona Lighthouse (34DA183), a lonely tower defying the volcanic winds of Tenerife.

That same explosive energy was found at the Santa Cruz Carnival, where the radio captured the soul of Europe’s most colorful party.

On the Sardinian coasts, Maladroxia Beach and the Guroneddu Waterfalls provided wild natural backdrops for clear and powerful signals.

European Forests and Abbeys

From the Polish biodiversity of Kumaki Dobrej (161DA135) to the majesty of the Vercors in France, the radio traversed the green lungs of the continent.

We touched sacred history with the Saint Fromond Abbey in Normandy (14DA020) and the nobility of the Park of Monza, expertly activated by 1DA001 & 1DA006.

Sardinian Archaeology: The Grand Finale

Sardinia provided the most evocative moments.

From Nuraghe Seruci, an ancient city of stone, to the Sacred Well of Santa Cristina.

The latter, activated just today, is a Nuragic water temple of rare astronomical precision: a place where radio waves seem to connect not just with space, but with time itself.
