The Argentine Republic in South America is home to new Dx Adventure Radio Club Member 4DA101 George who connects with our club in October 2021.

A previous member of the Maik Uniform (MU) and Delta Tango (DT) clubs, George is an experienced 11m DX Hunter whom has been involved in radio communications for 40 years.

Like many DA-RC Members, 4DA101 George is also a licensed ham operator; one whom enjoys working DX across the recognised amateur bands when the Freeband is closed.

Highly respected by his peers in the Americas, 4DA101 George satisfies DA-RC membership requirements via the DX Hunter category with more than 50 DXCC worked and confirmed (See https://www.delta-alfa.com/about/membership/ ).

As the map shown right indicates, 4DA101 George’s country — Argentina (4 Division) — shares land borders with Chile (32 Division) across the Andes to the west; Bolivia (80) and Paraguay (67) to the north.

Brazil (3) is to the northeast, Uruguay (12) and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east; and the Drake Passage (a body of water between South America’s Cape Horn, Argentina and the South Shetland Islands of Antarctica) to the south.

Argentina is known for a vibrant culture that gave us tango, literary geniuses, and cinematic masterpieces.

It’s also home to breathtaking landscapes such as the Iguazu Falls and the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia.

4DA101 George’s home QTH is Buenos Aires, the capital and largest city of Argentina.

Known affectionately as the “Queen of El Plata” (la Reina del Plata) and the “Paris of South America,” Buenos Aires is located on the western shore of the Río de la Plata (River Plate) in the pampa region.

Translated as “fair winds” or “good airs”, Buenos Aires boasts renowned architecture, world-class cuisine, vibrant entertainment, world-class shopping, rich historical sites, and more.

Seen pictured above, 4DA101 George’s station consists of a Kenwood TS-140 transceiver — a high performance HF transceiver designed for SSB, CW, AM and FM modes of operation on all amateur bands (160-10 Meters) — and numerous DX-cessories.

His base station antenna of choice is a 5.5m long, fiberglass Antron A-99, manufactured by Solarcon in the USA which provides omnidirectional TX performance to all corners of the globe.

Outside of the radio comms hobby, and work as a technical electrician, 4DA101 George lists music, travel and cycling as his main leisure pursuits.

He also enjoys spending time with his family by the beach, in parks and in the great outdoors.
