“From the rolling hills of Talanga, where experience meets patience and the airwaves carry stories as easily as signals, Ricardo has spent a lifetime quietly connecting Honduras to the wider radio world…”
In early February, 2026, our Dx Adventure Radio Club is proud to announce the membership of 28DA102 Ricardo, a seasoned OM whose signal carries not just RF, but decades of hobby knowledge, curiosity, and commitment to DX.

A licensed ham radio operator with roughly 30 years on the air, 28DA102 Ricardo is a rare blend of discipline and adventure…
While firmly grounded in amateur radio practice, he holds a genuine passion for Freeband DX—drawn to its raw unpredictability, fleeting openings, and the thrill of pulling distant voices out of the 27 MHz noise.
It’s this balance of structure and freedom that makes him a natural fit for the DA-RC ethos.
Across the years, 28DA102 Ricardo has been associated with several respected radio clubs in which he has developed his trade…
They include Sugar Delta, Romeo Charlie, Maik Uniform, and more recently Alfa Tango.
Each affiliation reflects a steady evolution as an operator and a growing reputation for patience, courtesy, and persistence when conditions are tough and the rewards are earned.
Operating from Talanga, Honduras, 28DA102 Ricardo’s station is built for reach and reliability…
His shack houses a capable lineup of transceivers—a Yaesu FT-100, Yaesu FT-101ZD, Ranger 2950, and an Anytone 6666—all driven into a 3-element Yagi that slices cleanly through the ether.
From this inland QTH, his signal regularly escapes Central America and finds its way into distant logbooks.

Within the DA-RC, 28DA102 Ricardo meets the membership requirements in the DX Chaser category…
He values the chase as much as the confirmation, placing real importance on the QSL exchange process as the final handshake of a successful contact.
For QSLs and coordination, Ricardo is contactable via his trusted QSL Manager, 19DA256 Twan.
Honduras on the Map
Set in the heart of Central America, 28DA102 Ricardo’s country – Honduras – is bordered by Guatemala (72), El Salvador (53), and Nicaragua (126), with access to both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean via the Gulf of Fonseca…
This strategic position gives Honduran stations excellent propagation paths, making the country a prized and productive DX location.

Honduras is famed for the majestic Maya ruins of Copán, the turquoise waters of the Bay Islands, and landscapes that roll from jungle-clad mountains to fertile valleys…
Its culture is rich, warm, and expressive—shaped by Indigenous roots and Spanish and Caribbean influences—and mirrored in a strong sense of hospitality and community.
Add world-class coffee and agricultural heritage, and Honduras becomes a place where tradition and rhythm run deep.

Talanga: A Signal with Roots
Northeast of Tegucigalpa, in the department of Francisco Morazán, lies 28DA102 Ricardo’s home town of Talanga…
It’s a town known for its agricultural strength, livestock production, and close-knit community life.
Surrounded by open land and gentle hills, Talanga offers a quieter RF environment and open horizons—conditions that reward patient operators with clean signals and long-haul propagation.
With colonial echoes, a central plaza, and a pace of life guided by routine and resilience, Talanga is more than a QTH—it’s a foundation.
From here, Ricardo’s station stands as a consistent voice on the bands, grounded locally yet reaching globally through the finger tips of his 3 element yagi!

Beyond the Shack
Away from the glow of the rig, 28DA102 Ricardo enjoys the tranquility of reading books, watching movies, and travelling, pursuits that reflect a lifelong curiosity about the world.
Now retired from university teaching, he brings an analytical mind and calm presence to radio—knowing when to push the pileup and when to simply listen.

📌 The Dx Adventure Radio Club proudly welcomes 28DA102 Ricardo—a steady signal, a patient DX chaser, and a true believer in the magic of long-distance radio comms…
From Talanga, Honduras, his callsign continues to travel far beyond the hills, carrying experience, respect, and the unmistakable spirit of dx adventure.
