69DA101 Edwin is a regular user of the 11dx Cluster and actively patrols the Freeband spectrum, scanning diligently for elusive stations and rare DX opportunities, and tapping into every resource he can to nail down a new one.

His dedication to helping others in an ‘Elmer’ type capacity has made him a respected figure among local operators t00; guy who know him for both skill and sociability.

69DA101 Edwin’s station is built for performance and reliability…

It consists of a Yaesu FT-707 transceiver with an FC707 antenna tuner, complemented by a Moxon antenna and an Astroplane Avanti made from high-strength aluminium with anti-corrosive treatment, high about the roof of his home.

Every component is carefully chosen to maximize reach and efficiency—proof that Edwin approaches DXing with the same preparation and discipline that a top soccer team uses in planning its strategy.

69DA101 Edwin calls Puerto Limón home, a vibrant Caribbean port city renowned for its rich Afro-Caribbean culture, colourful neighborhoods, and tropical WX…

As Costa Rica’s primary Caribbean port, Limón has long been a gateway for trade, travel, and cultural exchange.

Its lively music, local cuisine, and bustling markets give the city a rhythm that mirrors Edwin’s approach to DXing: energetic, engaged, and always reaching beyond the local horizon.

Puerto Limón also provides an ideal launchpad for exciting Islands On The Air (IOTA) DXpeditions…

Rare IOTA adventure is at Edwin’s fingertips: from San Andrés and Providencia (NA-033) just off the Caribbean coast, to the closer islands of the Limón Province group (NA-155), such as Uvita and Pájaros.

For a dedicated DXer like Edwin, these islands represent prime opportunities for chasing elusive multipliers and logging contacts that few operators ever experience firsthand.

Costa Rica itself is celebrated for its stunning biodiversity, stable democracy, and strong sense of community…

From Caribbean and Pacific coastlines to cloud forests, volcanoes, and national parks, the country inspires curiosity, exploration, and a love of connection—qualities 69DA101 Edwin embodies in every QSO he logs.

Costa Rica is also a nation where football is a unifying passion, and its communities thrive on teamwork and pride—values that resonate deeply with Edwin, both in his hobby and in his life.

Off the airwaves, 69DA101 Edwin is a loving family man and proud retiree…

He enjoys cycling, music, and football, and he is a passionate supporter of Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (LDA), one of Costa Rica’s top soccer clubs.

His loyalty to the team reflects the same dedication he brings to DXing: persistent, strategic, and always chasing the next “winning goal” on the bands.

The Dx Adventure Radio Club is thrilled to welcome 69DA101 Edwin into its ranks…

His technical expertise, decades of DX experience, Freeband vigilance, and access to rare IOTA adventure in the surrounding Caribbean Sea make him a valuable team member.

With Edwin on the roster, the club gains a DX operator who patrols the spectrum like a seasoned midfielder reading the field—alert, strategic, and ready to score every rare contact.
