*MEET* 153DA102 Lars

“Renowned for his legendary 11 m DXpeditions and deeply respected for his loyalty, friendliness, and love of community, Lars is both an intrepid adventurer and a devoted radio communications enthusiast…”

The Dx Adventure Radio Club proudly welcomes 153DA102 Lars, who joins DA-RC in early February 2026.

With over four decades of radio experience, 153DA102 Lars has travelled the globe activating islands, climbing remote hills, and establishing contacts that few operators thought possible…

A German ex-pat now based in the Kingdom of Thailand, this classy DX-Man has made this Southeast Asian gem his operational playground.

From the bustling streets of Bangkok to remote coastal sites along the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, he pursues DX wherever the band leads him.

Thailand’s tropical islands, dense forests, and northern mountains provide the perfect mix of challenge and opportunity, ideal for portable 11 m operations and IOTA projects.

153DA102 Lars’ DXpeditions span more than ten countries…

They include Germany, Liechtenstein, Hungary, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Czech Republic.

Many of these operations have been remote, challenging, and IOTA-focused, proving that Lars goes wherever DX is hardest to reach.

Over decades of 11 m activity, 153DA102 Lars has worked more than 300 DXCC entities, a milestone achieved by only a handful of operators…

While this guy is also a zealous DX Hunter, his primary rep rests on his field and dxpedition exploits, where planning, skill, and perseverance create legendary operations.

Lars remains a reliable presence on the International Call Frequency, 27.555 MHz USB, always ready to answer a call or alert fellow operators to new DX opportunities!

Thailand: A Land for Exploration and DXpeditions

Thailand is perfectly positioned for an intrepid DXpeditioner like this guy…

Bordering Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia, and with coastlines on both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, it offers a diversity of locations for field operations.

Lars takes full advantage — activating islands, climbing northern hills, and finding remote beaches to set up portable stations.

The country itself is rich in culture and history…

From the gilded temples of Bangkok, to the ruins of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, and the mountains around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, Thailand provides both inspiration and adventure.

Festivals, traditional music, street markets, and friendly locals make every DXpedition more than just radio — it becomes a journey.

153DA102 Lars is a builder at heart…

He crafts home-made antennas, experiments endlessly, and is known for extracting exceptional performance from simple, elegant designs.

A self-taught electrician, he thrives under field conditions, combining technical skill with ingenuity earned from decades of on-the-ground operations.

Beyond the airwaves, 153DA102 Lars is a loyal and friendly person, deeply valuing the camaraderie of the 11 m community…

He’s incredibly respected by his peers, admired for both his technical expertise and his generosity in sharing knowledge and mentoring others.

He is also a globe-trotter and music lover, having worked as a DJ, owned a record store, and spent time in broadcast radio — blending creativity with technical know-how long before SDRs and digital modes became mainstream.

Now operating under his Delta-Alfa callsign, 153DA102, Lars continues to push the boundaries of 11 m..

DXpeditioning, exploring new islands and remote Thai provinces, deploying innovative antennas, and leaving a trail of contacts across the band, are well and truly on his radar.

DA-RC is proud to have him on board and excited for the next chapters of DX, islands, antennas, and adventure that lie ahead!
