The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is thrilled to announce details of an upcoming Inland Water Island (IWI) DX adventure in Rochemaure — a charming medieval town perched on the right bank of the Rhône, opposite Montélimar, in the Ardèche region of Southern France.
Famed for its ancient stone architecture, the imposing Château des Adhémar, dramatic Himalayan footbridges, and a network of hiking, cycling, and camping opportunities, Rochemaure provides an idyllic backdrop for a new and exciting activation.

On this occasion, experienced DXpeditioners 14DA181 Marc and 14DA001 Stef will be QRV as 14DA/07028R from Petite Island — a diminutive river isle nestled within the Canal de Dérivation de Montélimar and the legendary Rhône River.
Importantly, Petite Island is listed in the Islands Base Online (IBO) database — and this will mark the first-ever activation of the island on the 11m band, making it a highly sought-after contact for serious island chasers.
The activity will be a one-day only operation, running for 24 hours, so DXers will need to be quick to secure this rare island in the log!

To ensure a strong signal into the world’s major DX markets, the team has carefully selected a Yaesu FT-891 transceiver paired with an RM Italy KL-503 300-watt amplifier, a Heil Pro-Set 6 headset for clear audio, and both Skypper and 3-element DL antennas to maximize band coverage.
Power will be supplied by a 130 Amp slow-discharge battery, with the entire system supported by an 8-meter aluminium telescopic mast for optimal take-off over water.

For almost 2 decades, the Dx Adventure Radio Club has built a proud tradition of delivering world-class island activations for the Freeband DX Community.
From far-flung oceanic outposts to seldom-visited inland water isles, DA-RC teams continue to bring rare and exciting locations to the airwaves for hunters across the globe.
One of Europe’s most iconic waterways, the Rhône originates in the Swiss Alps, passes through Lake Geneva, winds across Southeastern France, and ultimately flows into the Mediterranean Sea at the Gulf of Lion.

👉 Stay tuned to DA-RC forums for frequencies, operating times, and live updates from the field.
Don’t miss the chance to log 14DA/07028R, a rare and never-before-activated IWI on 11m, and share in the excitement of another first-class DA-RC DXpedition!
📬 A traditional QSL card will be available via DA-RC HQ EU to confirm any contact with this special island station.
