The 2026 operation will be undertaken by two DA-RC team members, 41DA981 Giovanni and 43DA001 Darren, who’ll travel to Naoero to activate one of the Pacific’s most sought-after DX entities.
The activation is expected to attract significant interest from operators throughout the international 11m DX and amateur radio communities and now, thanks to Tummennus, the Team is even more inspired to deliver!
TWO OPERATORS, ONE MAJOR EXPEDITION
While operators around the world will see the callsign appear on their scopes, there’s considerable work involved before the first contact can be made…
Gio and Daz will be responsible for travelling to Naoero from their respective countries, transporting the required equipment, establishing the station, deploying antennas and managing the operation once on location.
The preparation also involves extensive planning covering equipment, logistics, travel, accommodation, baggage, freight, propagation and operating schedules.
With only two operators undertaking the activation, the financial commitment is substantial.
PROJECTED COST
The projected cost of the 2026 Naoero Atoll DXpedition is nearing AUD $20,000…
A significant portion of this cost is associated with the return international flights and accommodation required for the two operators, over a 2 week period. Additional expenses include transportation, baggage and freight, equipment, insurance and other operational requirements.
This is the primary reason the DA-RC has established its Corporate Sponsorship program.
The purpose of sponsorship is to help offset the extraordinarily high costs associated with international DXpedition work, reducing the financial burden on the operators who undertake these projects.
Corporate Sponsorship opportunities are available for contributions above USD $200.
