*HAM RENTAL* Tulipán Guesthouse, Romania

If you’d like to combine an exciting holiday for your family with some quality time chasing DX, then check out the charming Tulipán Guesthouse in Romania.

Providing comfortable room for up to 11 persons, this picturesque ‘Ham Friendly’ accommodation in south-eastern Europe is situated at the foot of the awe-inspiring Apuseni Mountains (part of the Carpathian Mountains) in the west part of Romania (233 Division).

Made of traditional clay bricks, Tulipán Guesthouse has 4 comfortable rooms all having a new and separate bathroom with a shower and toilet.  They are supposedly refreshingly cool in the summer and warm in the winter!

According to the Tulipán Guesthouse website, 3 rooms have a nice view of the small mountain stream in front of the house while 1 room has a view of the quiet house yard where there is a big terrace full with flowers from spring to autumn.

Other available facilities at the Tulipán Guesthouse include a 2nd fully equipped kitchen only for guests, a dining/TV room, internet, telephone, inside and outside parking, dining terrace, use of the whole garden, barbeque equipment and garden furniture.

During periods of ‘DX Downtime’ visitors like to attend the following local attractions:

  • MEZIAD CAVE and see its several bat populations
  • WONDER SPRING overflowing with sparkling mineral water and surrounded by green pine tree forests
  • THERMAL SPA with swimming pools filled with hot thermal water
  • BEARS CAVE with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites and Ursus spelaeus skeleton
  • PADIȘ in the heart of the Apuseni Mountains
  • Lesu Lake (Pictured below) where mountains meet lake; and
  • The old Water Mill which has been working for 150 years

How to Get There

  • By plane there are international low cost flights to Budapest (HU, 320 km , check Wizzair.com), Oradea (RO, 69km), Cluj Napoca (RO, 150km) or Targu Mures (RO, 300 km). From any of these destinations you can rent a car.
  • By car you can reach us from Oradea via Beius on road DN 79/E60, direction DEVA. In the center of Beius, in front of the Church you have to go left; follow Rosia and Meziad. Remetea is the 3rd village from Beius.

Visitors can also rent bicycles to travel the picturesque countryside and take in more of the local beauty.
