The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is thrilled to announce that callsign 507DA/0 is the QRZ pseudonym for 202DA/0, with the mystery DXCC now revealed as the Kingdom of Bhutan – the landlocked Himalayan kingdom of South-Central Asia.
This eagerly awaited DXpedition will be undertaken in September 2025 by seasoned New Zealand DXer 41DA981 Giovanni, marking a full decade since this diminutive Asian entity was last active on the band.
In true DA-RC style, our man Giovanni has left nothing to chance…
Detailed reconnaissance has ensured that this expedition will meet the same world-class standards he has set with previous activations to rare and exotic entities such as Singapore, the North and South Cook Islands, Niue, Fiji, Palau, Papua New Guinea, and more.
Return flights with international stopovers, ham-friendly accommodation, airport transfers, and other essentials are already locked in.
About the Destination
Bhutan is a Buddhist kingdom on the eastern edge of the Himalayas, celebrated for its cliffside monasteries, fortress-like dzongs, and dramatic landscapes ranging from lush subtropical plains to soaring mountain valleys.
Bordered by China to the north and India to the south, east, and west, it is one of the world’s most secluded nations.
For the global Freeband DX community, Giovanni’s presence here represents a golden opportunity to log an ATNO or, at the very least, work a rarely heard entity on the eleven meter band, all under the DA banner!
Station & Operations
To maximize results, Giovanni will deploy a high-performance portable station featuring a top-tier transceiver, Skypper antenna, 10m spider mast, and other carefully selected DXcessories — all designed to give his signal maximum punch and reliability across the globe.
Get Involved – Sponsorship Opportunities
This ambitious venture comes with significant logistical costs, and the DA-RC is offering Gold, Silver, and Diamond sponsorship packages to help offset these expenses.
Each tier provides unique and valuable benefits for supporters (such as the beautiful certificate pictured right), ensuring sponsors are recognised and rewarded for their contribution to making this rare DX event possible.
On the 11m band, sponsorship is critical.
Without the backing of passionate supporters, expeditions to rare and challenging DXCCs like Bhutan would simply not be possible, and the opportunities for serious DX Hunters to log these elusive entities would diminish.
By supporting projects like 202DA/0 and high motivated guys like Giovanni, sponsors play a direct role in keeping the spirit of Freeband DX alive and ensuring that such once-in-a-decade chances continue to present themselves to the community.
