Our Dx Adventure Radio Club is thrilled to announce details of an extraordinary ‘Most Wanted’ islands on the air activation from the far-flung — and never before activated — Alejandro Selkirk Island!
This highly anticipated IOTA DXpedition to an incredibly sought-after South American DX destination in the Juan Fernández Archipelago (286 Division) will be undertaken by Chilean DA members 32DA114 John and 32DA010 Felipe in mid October, 2026.
Cluster archives confirms that both OM’s are highly experienced operators with an impressive track record of activating remote locations in their part of the world and will no doubt be determined to deliver yet another master class of dxpedition work!

The dynamic DA-RC duo plans to be on the air for approximately two weeks…
This will give island hunters and DX enthusiasts around the world an opportunity to work this new QTH.
Alejandro Selkirk Island carries the IOTA reference SA-101 and is the only island within that reference group under the World Islands Program.
It’s from here that 32DA114 John and 32DA010 Felipe will be QRV.

Formerly known as Más Afuera (“Farther Out to Sea”), Alejandro Selkirk Island is the largest and most westerly island in the Juan Fernández Archipelago…
It’s located in Chile’s picturesque Valparaíso Region (32 Division).
The archipelago is steeped in history.
It was home to the marooned Scottish sailor Alexander Selkirk between 1704 and 1709, whose remarkable survival story is widely believed to have inspired Daniel Defoe’s classic 1719 novel Robinson Crusoe.

Alejandro Selkirk Island measures approximately 11 km north-to-south and 6 km east-to-west, covering an area of 49.5 km²…
The island is densely forested, rugged, and mountainous, with prominent ridges and deep ravines descending toward a dramatic coastline.
The eastern side of the island is particularly imposing, featuring coastal cliffs reaching heights of up to 1000m, while the south, west, and north coasts feature sandy beach areas extending offshore in places.
Its highest point, Cerro de Los Inocentes, rises to 1268m above sea level in the island’s southwest. Nearby stands a striking natural rock formation featuring a hole through its centre.

This promises to be one of the most exciting SA island activations in recent memory.
