In September, 2024, keen dx adventurist 30DA030 Raf will be QRV from the Castillo de Soria for some intriguing Castles On The Air (COTA) DX action!

Nestled in the heart of Spain’s Provincia de Soria, this medieval military construction stands as a magnificent testament to the region’s rich history and architectural prowess.



As well as being an exciting COTA DXstination, this enchanting castle, with its centuries-old charm and stunning surroundings, has become a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers seeking a glimpse into Spain’s past.

30DA030 Raf has compiled a formidable portable station for his time in the field where he’ll be surrounded by colourful castle gardens, adorned with vibrant flowers and aromatic herbs.

Kenwood and Zetagi products are perfect for this COTA field application, while a Sirio antenna will tower above panoramic views of the stunning Provincia de Soria landscape, providing exceptional omni-directional performance on Freeband frequencies.



Originally constructed in the 12th century, the Castillo de Soria—a combination of Moorish and Gothic influences—is said to have witnessed centuries of triumphs, challenges, and the ebb and flow of history.

On the air, 30DA030 Raf will, no doubt, be greeted by dynamic DX pileups, while off the air, as he climbs the hill to the castle, a grand entrance adorned with intricate carvings, showcasing the attention to detail that went into the castle’s construction.
