*DX NEWS* 36DA/DX, San Marino

Standby dedicated Freeband DX Hunters!

Coming up soon is a rare opportunity to work the pocket-sized Republic of San Marino this weekend and next, when 36DA/DX will be on the air!

The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is thrilled to announce plans for this exciting activity, which will be carried out by experienced members 1DA007 Darek and 1DA020 Gianmarco from Italy, beginning on April 20, 2024 and concluding the following Saturday.

Impressively, the DA-RC can reveal that extensive reconnaissance has already been undertaken by 1DA007 Darek and 1DA020 Gianmarco for this dx adventure who last week visited the tiny land-locked DXCC for a first-hand appraisal.

Recon efforts include nabbing a suitable property to DX from—one with excellent yagi take-offs and electricity to install the station—gaining permissions from the country’s Ministry of Telecommunications to operate, even canvassing the thoughts of resident hams who were more than happy to give their blessings for the activity to occur!

According to the World Atlas, San Marino (36 Division) is a European microstate and enclave within Italy (1 Division); one that’s located on the northeastern side of the Apennine Mountains which are known as the backbone of peninsular Italy.

Interestingly, San Marino is known to be the fifth-smallest country in the world—with a land area of just over 61 km2—and the third smallest country in Europe, after Vatican City and Monaco.

Only a small number of activities have taken place from this location in the past few years, and based on log data attained from all known databases, including cluster archives and DX Proofs, the /DX callsign has been requested and granted by the DA-RC HQ Team.

Please check out all the information (e.g. Station, QSLM, links, grid square, etc.) pertaining to this outstanding dx adventure, and others by members of the DA-RC, in the right hand side menu under ‘DXpedition Activities’.

Here, you can also follow the exciting new ‘Live Log’ feature to check the status of your contact, as well as which stations are being heard from this pintsized DXCC entity.

Good luck to all!
