Skilled Freeband Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) operative 14DA017 Pat will embark on a thrilling Lighthouse On The Air (LOTA) tour of Brittany Peninsula’s remarkable maritime lights in early August, 2022.
This DX event is certain to be one of the best opportunities for serious eleven meter band LOTA enthusiasts in 2022!
The DA-RC HQ team can reveal that 14DA017 Pat will be active on 27 MHz frequencies as a portable station from 3 x Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS) referenced structures in France’s most north-western region.
A spectacular hilly peninsula which extends outwards toward the Atlantic Ocean, Brittany is bordered to the north by the English Channel, to the south by the Bay of Biscay, and by the waters located between the western coast and Ushant Island which form the Iroise Sea.
In addition to having the world’s greatest concentration of lighthouses, with an incredible 27 classed as historic monuments, Brittany is known for its lengthy, rugged coastline; one which is dotted with stylish beach resorts such as chic Dinard and walled Saint-Malo.
One of the world’s most treacherous sea routes lies along the coast of Brittany, hence the importance of these maritime beacons to provide safe passage.
