*MEET* 93DA101 Brian

From the sun-soaked shores of the Mediterranean’s jewel—Malta—the Dx Adventure Radio Club is thrilled to welcome one of the 11m band’s most accomplished DXers to our global team…

Introducing 93DA101 Brian — a true radio warrior from the island fortress of Malta!

With a massive 242 DXCC entities already in the logbook, this guy is no stranger to rare contacts, wild pileups, and the electrifying thrill of the chase.

A veteran of the Sugar Delta and Echo Kilo groups, this experienced DX guy officially takes on the Delta-Alfa callsign in May 2025, ready to blaze new trails with the DA-RC brotherhood.

DX Hunter status? Achieved.
300 DXCC goal? In sight.
Spirit of DXpeditioning? Burning bright.

A DX Paradise: Malta (IOTA EU-023)

93DA101 Brian hails from the spectacular island nation of Malta, a land drenched in history, surrounded by turquoise seas, and rich with DX potential.

Located between Sicily Island (EU-025) and North Africa, the Maltese Archipelago — including Gozo and Comino — is a goldmine for IOTA chasers, all under the rare EU-023 designation.

Think prehistoric temples, ancient stone cities, rugged coastal cliffs, and the kind of QRV-worthy backdrops that DX dreams are made of.

Żejtun – Where History Meets RF

93DA101 Brian operates from the hilltop town of Żejtun, known traditionally as Città Beland — a place of age-old olive groves, colorful festivals, and legendary folk singers.

This historic city pulses with cultural energy, making it the perfect launchpad for a passionate DXer.

You’ll find him surrounded by rustic countryside and neighboring towns like Marsaxlokk, Marsascala, Żabbar, and Għaxaq — prime terrain for his other favorite pastimes: fishing, hunting, and dreaming up his next antenna design.

Brian also loves spending time with family and friends!

Just a short drive from his shack are some of the Mediterranean’s most iconic sites — potential Castles On The Air (COTA) activations and world-class operating locations:

  • St Catherine’s Churches (New & Old)
  • Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta
  • Fort St Elmo and the National War Museum
  • Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra Temples
  • Għar Dalam Cave and Museum
  • and many more

Shack Stats — Built for DX Success

93DA101 Brian’s setup is built for action and optimized for performance:

  • ICOM IC-718 all-mode transceiver
  • Heil Sound studio-quality microphone
  • Acom 1000 self-contained linear amplifier
  • 3-element Delta Loop by SmarTech (for directional power)
  • Antron 99 vertical by Solarcon (for omnidirectional coverage)

He also builds his own antennas — a true hands-on radio craftsman.

On Air and On Fire

When he’s not hard at work as an air conditioning electrician and saving for his next DX toy, 93DA101 Brian is QRV most days, monitoring the international call frequency 27.555 MHz USB, always ready to jump on a rare call or connect with DX friends old and new.
