*MEET* 67DA101 Matt

Specialist DX Hunter 67DA101 Matt resides in the Republic of Paraguay, a rugged landlocked country in the heart of South America…

We’re excited to introduce to you a guy who nails down membership in the DX Hunter category with more than 100 DXCC worked and confirmed through past associations with the Alfa Tango club of Italy.

According to the World Atlas, Paraguay is bordered by Argentina (4 Division) to the south and southwest, Brazil (3) to the east and northeast, and Bolivia (80) to the northwest.

As well as a haven for world class DXers, Matt’s DXCC is known for its impressive wildlife and beautifully preserved Jesuit Missionaries.

Sharing the Pantanal Wetlands with Brazil, Paraguay claims some of the world’s top wildlife viewing.

Wildlife in Paraguay include marsh deer, monkeys, armadillos, anteaters, otters, wild boars, tapirs, jaguars, ocelots, bats, and the coypu.

Interestingly, Paraguay is famous for being home to the world’s largest navy among landlocked nations.

It also boasts a river defense corps, a coast guard, and naval aviation.

Reportedly, the Paraguayan navy is able to access the ocean through Argentina and operates on the nation’s rivers.

Asunción is the capital of Paraguay and it’s here where 67DA101 Matt resides, on the outskirts of the city.

Asunción is located on the left (eastern) bank of the Paraguay River and has a large nightlife scene, museums, and historical sites.

For example, the Palacio de López, a pink Neoclassical building, is the current seat of government and was built to be the home of Paraguay’s second president.

Additionally, the National Pantheon of Heroes is not only a significant cultural and historical site in Paraguay’s capital but an architectural jewel of the country’s.

In fact, the white, cathedral-like building houses the tombs and monuments of Paraguay’s most famed heroes.

67DA101 Matt shares his radio shack with his wife, Cecilia, whom is also a DA member.

Their DX abode consists of a modern Icom IC-7300 transciever paired with a Heil Sound microphone which delivers studio audio sound.

These are supplemented with a KL-703 amplifier by RM Italy—a 12V linear model for use in the 25-30 MHz frequency range—which punches out 500 watts.

Mounted 30 m above the ground outside 67DA101 Matt’s home, is a two-element delta loop antenna.

Controlled by a Yaesu rotator, this antenna provides exceptional front to back listening, and ensures he call pull in even the faintest of signals.

67DA101 Matt is employed as a Trader.

He enjoys travelling and has his heart set on a series of rare dxstinations in the not so distant future for DXpedition work.

67DA101 Matt also enjoys ‘going portable’ for field days, and contesting, as well as Summits On The Air (SOTA) and Parks On The Air (POTA) dx adventure.

He also lists amp and antenna building, QRP ops and digital modes as preferred past times in the hobby.

Like most DA-RC Members, 67DA101 Matt occupies the international call frequency, Triple 5, like a predator stalking its prey.

He’s a busy DX Hunter and always keen to exchange a QSL card to confirm a contact with his station!
