Stand by, DX Hunters, for an opportunity to work the independent Principality of Andorra as high-profile DXpeditioner 14DA011 Cedric heads to a secluded mountaintop location in the Pyrenees for an exciting holiday activation…
Nestled high in the eastern Pyrenees, this boutique DXstination is one of Europe’s smallest sovereign nations, covering just 468 square kilometres.
Landlocked between France to the north and Spain to the south, the panoramic mountain paradise is renowned for its dramatic scenery, picturesque villages, world-class ski resorts and duty-free shopping.
Although Cedric calls neighbouring France home, Andorra is just a 300-kilometre drive from his residence, making it an ideal destination for a mountain getaway and some holiday DXing on the world’s best band!

Known on the 11-metre band as Division 51, Andorra is only infrequently active, making each operation highly anticipated by the global DX community…
Opportunities to work this small principality are relatively rare, ensuring Cedric’s intermittent transmissions will be an exciting prospect for DX Hunters around the world looking to add 51 Division to their logs and a DA-RC QSL card to their collection.

Cedric will be QRV from this spectacular high-altitude escape from July 8 to July 11 from Pic de Maià…
This is a spectacular 2,615-metre summit in the Andorran Pyrenees near the French border and Port d’Envalira.
In a land of soaring peaks and winding valleys, the summit is renowned for its iconic communications antenna and offers breathtaking, uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views across the Pessons Cirque, Pas de la Casa and the surrounding French valleys.

Cedric reports excellent WX in the region…
Clear skies forecast throughout his stay and daytime temperatures expected to reach a pleasant 22°C at the summit will be ideal WX conditions for an enjoyable mountain activation.
At the time of publishing, he expects to be QRV in approximately two hours, so DX Hunters should keep an ear on the band and be ready for what promises to be a sought-after 51 Division activation.

For the activation, Cedric will operate a Kenwood TS-50, a compact 100-watt HF transceiver ideally suited to portable DXpedition work…
Despite its small footprint, the TS-50 delivers the full 100 watts, making it an excellent choice for mountaintop operations where space, weight and reliability are all important considerations.
Although this is primarily a holiday trip, Cedric is looking forward to getting on the air from this rarely activated DXCC and giving operators around the world the chance to add Andorra to their logs.

A commemorative QSL card will be available directly from Cedric…
A voluntary contribution is appreciated to help cover printing and postage costs.
