Across oceans and borders, a composed Argentine signal has been making its mark on the bands — backed by decades of experience and a true love for radio…
From the picturesque Atlantic coastline of Argentina comes a calm, accomplished female voice on the airways of 27 MHz, as well as several other bands.
4DA166 Nuria connects with the Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) in late January 2026, bringing with her decades of DXperience, curiosity, and a genuine love for the radio craft.

According to the DA-RC Membership Directory, Nuria lives in Mar del Plata…
This is a vibrant coastal city in Buenos Aires Province, renowned for its rich history, cultural life, and ever-present ocean air.
This QTH is a fitting home for an operator who values both connection and perspective.
Mar del Plata, in fact, is one of Argentina’s most iconic seaside cities.
It is famous for its long Atlantic beaches, historic seafront architecture, and lively cultural scene.
Often referred to as La Feliz, the city blends grand old hotels, classic casinos, and theatres with a strong sporting tradition and a deep connection to the sea.
Its maritime heritage, shifting weather, and open horizons make it a natural environment for a radio operator drawn to distance, propagation, and global communication.

4DA166 Nuria’s home DXCC, Argentina, is an elusive one on any band…
It occupies a vast and diverse stretch of southern South America, bordered by Chile (32) to the west, Bolivia (81) and Paraguay (61) to the north, Brazil (3) and Uruguay (12) to the northeast, and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east.
Known for its rich cultural identity, Div 4 blends strong European influences with deep-rooted Latin American traditions, expressed through music, literature, cuisine, and a national passion for sport—particularly football.
From the Andes Mountains to the Pampas and the windswept Atlantic coast, the country’s scale and outward-looking character reflect a culture that values expression, curiosity, and global connection—qualities well aligned with the spirit of DX.

With close to 40 years involved in radio communications, 4DA116 Nuria is very much a professional operator in both mindset and practice…
A licensed amateur radio operator and former member of the Alfa Tango club of Italy, she has long appreciated the importance of strong club culture and mutual respect.
One of the key factors drawing her to the DA-RC was the club’s emphasis on camaraderie, shared respect, and collective passion for DX—values that align closely with her own outlook on the hobby.
On the air, Nuria is an accomplished Freeband DX chaser, having worked 155 countries on the world’s best HF band — 11 metres.
This achievement comfortably places her within DA-RC membership criteria in the ‘DX Chaser’ category, highlighting both persistence and skill across changing conditions and propagation cycles.

4DA166 Nuria’s station reflects a thoughtful and versatile approach to DX work…
As shown above, it includes an ICOM IC-725 multimode, all-band transceiver, professionally modified for general coverage to include 11 m, alongside a President McKinley 27 MHz 40-channel AM/SSB mobile CB.
Antenna options are equally diverse, with a 3-element Yagi, delta loop, and ham dipole, giving her the flexibility to chase DX and adapt to band conditions.

Adding another layer of adventure to her QTH is the presence of an exciting Lighthouse On The Air (LOTA) opportunity located nearby…
Just south of the city stands the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS) listed Faro Punta Mogotes (ARG-005).
Inaugurated in 1891, Faro Punta Mogotes is a 35-metre-high red-and-white conical tower, originally built in France and transported by ship to Argentina before being erected in the coastal Faro Norte neighborhood.
Still an active and vital navigational beacon today, its light is visible up to 22 nautical miles offshore, guiding vessels along the Atlantic coast.
Should Nuria choose to expand her DX repertoire into portable or field operations, Faro Punta Mogotes presents an ideal setting for a future LOTA activation.

Away from the microphone, 4DA166 Nuria has a strong academic and professional foundation…
She studied literature and history at the University of Mar del Plata, a background that complements her natural interest in people, places, and stories.
She’s currently employed as an administrator for a national company, balancing professional responsibility with her long-standing passion for radio.

Beyond radio, 4DA166 Nuria enjoys learning about different cultures, along with sport and travel—interests that mirror the global reach of DX itself…
Whether through the 11-metre band-scape or real-world experiences, she values connection, understanding, and shared stories, often found patrolling the international call frequency 27.555 MHz in search of radio friends or rare DX prospects.
The Dx Adventure Radio Club is proud to welcome 4DA166 Nuria—an experienced operator, dedicated DX chaser, and an excellent fit for a club built on adventure, respect, and friendship.
