“With a calm, measured approach and a proven track record, this guy has earned his place among the most capable DX hunters in the region…”
Our Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is pleased to welcome 41DA100 Arthur (Shown above in the shack), who officially joins the club in mid-January 2026, operating from Whangārei in New Zealand’s North Island (OC-036)….
An elusive Pacific DX entity, Arthur’s country, New Zealand, is positioned in the south-west Pacific Ocean…
It’s well removed from the major continental landmasses and ideally located for long-distance radio comms into Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Africa!
The North Island of New Zealand is referenced as OC-036 in accordance with the World Islands Program, and Whangārei lies in the subtropical Northland region, offering open space, coastal air, and low-noise conditions well suited to effective HF and 11-metre DX operations.

With easy access to the Tutukaka Coast, Matapouri, and Ocean Beach, along with the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve offshore, the area combines strong radio potential with an enviable outdoor lifestyle.
Local landmarks such as Whangārei Falls (Shown above) and the Town Basin marina precinct further reinforce its appeal as a beautiful place to reside.
Like most DA-RC Members, Arthur is a licensed amateur radio operator and a highly respected 11-metre band operative…
He’s widely recognised as one of Oceania’s finest Freeband DX Hunters, in fact, with nearly 40 years in the hobby.
He’s a regular monitor of the International Call Frequency 27.555 MHz USB, and is known for being quick to pounce on rare DX CQ calls whenever they appear, as well as a mainstay of Most Wanted DXpedition logs.

Originally from Zimbabwe, 41DA100 Arthur gained valuable DX experience operating from Africa—experience that continues to shape his disciplined, methodical, and highly effective on-air approach.
Previously a member of the Sugar Delta and Alfa Tango clubs, Arthur now joins DA-RC in the DX Hunter category.
His achievements include an impressive 260 DXCC confirmed on the 11m band, reflecting long-term dedication, technical understanding, and consistent operating standards.
41DA100 Arthur’s station is designed for reliability and performance, featuring Yaesu FTDX101D and ICOM IC-7300 transceivers, supported by an HF/50MHz linear amplifier (Yaesu VL1000).
His antenna system includes a 4-element long-boom OP-DES (Opposing Phase Driven Element System) antenna, built with robust construction to withstand harsh conditions, while delivering excellent bandwidth and gain.
This is supported by a selection of wire antennas for flexibility across bands and conditions.

Beyond his technical ability, 41DA100 Arthur is widely regarded for his kind, gentleman-like manner, both on and off the air, except when he’s on the race track that is where it’s “every man for himself!”
Other guys find him approachable, respectful, and generous with his time—qualities that are just as valued within DA-RC as operating skill.

41DA100 Arthur works in the manufacturing industry, bringing a practical, hands-on mindset to everything he does…
Away from radio, this self-confessed “petrol head” has a strong passion for motor sports, including drag racing.
He’s pretty good at it too, as the trophy cabinet shows!
He also enjoys motor homing, as well as boating, fishing and camping, making the most of New Zealand’s great outdoors whenever he can.
On the bands, Arthur’s interests include contesting, hunting rare DX, antenna experimentation, and rag-chewing with mates.
His blend of technical focus, competitive drive, and genuine good character makes him an outstanding fit within the DA-RC community.

41DA100 Arthur is also happy to confirm contacts with his station using a beautiful QSL card, available via the coordination details below.
Please send your QSL with the standard contribution, along with an SAE or sticky address label for return.

⭐ We’re delighted to welcome Arthur to the Dx Adventure Radio Club and look forward to hearing 41DA100 active and consistent on the bands as he begins his DA-RC journey in January 2026.
