The Dx Adventure Radio Club is pumped to announce the late-January 2026 induction of 35DA159 Chris, a name that already carries serious weight across the European and international DX scene…
A polished DX Hunter, avid outdoor adventurer, and a tireless contributor to the Freeband community, Chris joins the DA-RC — loaded up not just with DX credentials—but character.
Chris’s journey in radio comms kicked off in 1987, giving him nearly four decades of hands-on experience by the time he linked up with our club in mid-January 2026.
Over that time, he’s built a rep for consistency, technical excellence, and a deep respect for the traditions and friendships that define best practice in our 11m DX Community.
Formerly a member of the Sugar Delta and Sugar Radio clubs respectively, 35DA159 Chris has always placed a premium on camaraderie and elite-level performance in the field—values that align seamlessly with the DA-RC ethos.
Elite DX Pedigree
Among a very small and highly respected collection of OM’s worldwide, our Austrian DX genius has achieved the magical 300 DXCC milestone—an incredible benchmark that few hobbyists ever reach, and one that speaks volumes about his skill and patience…
Such an accomplishment firmly places him among the elite DX Hunters of the 27 MHz world.
As you might expect, Chris’ station reflects that same seriousness of purpose…
Purpose-built for high-level DX work, the setup is headlined by a 4-element Sirio Yagi, paired with several elite-class rigs weaponized for long-haul 27 MHz warfare.

35DA159 Chris is a regular presence on the international DX calling frequency of 27.555 MHz USB.
True to the traditions of Freeband DXing, he’s also keen to exchange QSL cards, welcoming confirmations to formally verify contacts made with his station.
Chris comfortably satisfies DA-RC membership requirements in the DX Chaser category (See 🔗 https://www.delta-alfa.com/about/membership/), but his standing in the hobby goes far beyond checkboxes…
He’s widely regarded as popular, approachable, and unfailingly respectful—qualities that have earned him admiration across borders.
Community First
Despite his personal achievements, 35DA159 Chris has always invested heavily in the wider DX community…
In Austria, he actively supports operators through a DX-dedicated WhatsApp group, where he serves as an Admin alongside fellow DA-RC member 35DA035 Frank.
This platform has become a valuable hub for coordination, information sharing, and mutual support within the local DX scene.
Away from the microphone, 35DA159 Chris works in the insurance industry, and when he’s not stalking rare entities on the band, he’s often found hiking mountain trails, touring, or travelling—a love of the outdoors that mirrors his passion for exploration on the airwaves, as the pictures clearly show!
Austria & QTH: Linz
35DA159 Chris lives in Linz, Austria, a stunning country located in the very heart of Europe…
Nicknamed the “Eastern Realm” (Österreich), it shares borders with Germany (13 Division) and the Czech Republic (329) to the north, Slovakia (330) and Hungary (109) to the east, Slovenia (327) and Italy (1) to the south, and Switzerland (15) and Liechtenstein (40) to the west, making it a strategically advantageous location for European and transcontinental DX.
Linz itself sits on the banks of the Danube River Europe’s second-longest river, and is one of Austria’s most culturally rich cities…
Chris’ QTH is renowned for its blend of history and innovation, featuring landmarks such as COTA opportunity the Linz Castle (Left), the striking Ars Electronica Center, and the beautifully preserved Old Town (Altstadt).
The surrounding region offers rolling hills and access to the Alpine foothills—perfect terrain for a DXer who also loves hiking and outdoor adventure.
A Perfect Fit
With his awesome experience, DX achievements, and unwavering commitment to both performance and friendship, 35DA159 Chris is a natural addition to the DA-RC ranks.
His embracing of the Delta-Alfa callsign strengthens not only our club’s DX credentials, but also our community spirit.
We’re proud to welcome Chris and look forward to many years of shared pile-ups, rare catches, and adventures—on the bands and beyond!

A very warm welcome Chris!
I am very happy to stay togeather with my best buddy in the best radio DX group!
Wish you a lot of great contacts around the globe.
