From the Caribbean Sea region, the Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is proud to announce an exciting new addition to our global family…
This June, we officially welcome 348DA101 David to the club, an experienced hobbyist bringing a wealth of technical skill and a passion for expedition radio to our international Freeband community.
Because he regularly moves between the Dutch-governed Sint Maarten (348) and the French-governed Saint Martin (207)—the two sides of a unique, shared island—he has also been issued the callsign 207DA101.

With home stations established on both sides of this exquisite Caribbean paradise, 348DA101 David is uniquely positioned to serve as a key ambassador for our group…
While Sint Maarten is renowned for its bustling atmosphere, duty-free shopping, and vibrant nightlife in the capital of Philipsburg, the northern French side of this IOTA hotspot offers a more relaxed, sophisticated European charm centered around Marigot.
348DA101 David enjoys the best of both worlds, transitioning seamlessly between these two distinct cultures that together share one of the most beautiful landmasses in the Caribbean.

348DA101 David’s journey into the world of radio communication began in 1988…
After a hiatus of roughly two decades, he returned to the 27 MHz airwaves 6 months ago with renewed vigor, determined to cash in on opportunities as we move towards the end of the solar cycle.
A former member of the Sugar Delta group—where he operated under 14SD134, 348SD102, and 207SD102—David brings significant experience to the DA-RC community.
He’s already logged an impressive 229 confirmed divisions on the 11m band, easily satisfying the requirements for the DA-RC DX Chaser Category.

For those looking to snare this rare DXCC, 348DA101 David keeps a close watch on the international call frequency, 27.555 MHz USB…
He can also be found enjoying lively ragchews on 27.510 MHz LSB with other fellow Caribbean operators, where the atmosphere is always friendly and the signals from incredible coastal seascapes are strong.

348DA101 David is a firm believer in the “build it yourself” philosophy…
His current station is undergoing a significant upgrade, with the addition of a new Yaesu FT-710 transceiver on the horizon.
Perhaps most impressively, he operates using a custom-engineered 5/8-wave vertical antenna which delivers exceptional omni-directional performance.
David designed and built this stick entirely from scratch, featuring four 2.60-meter radials.
It was specifically crafted with mobility in mind, ensuring it is easily transportable for his upcoming radio expeditions across the Caribbean—ready to be deployed on a sun-drenched beach or a rugged mountain peak at a moment’s notice.

When he isn’t chasing DX or tuning his antenna, 348DA101 David balances his life with a demanding and adventurous professional career…
As a Geotechnical Drilling Supervisor with over 23 years of experience, he’s no stranger to challenging environments and precision work—skills that translate perfectly to the logistical demands of successful DXpeditions.

Outside of the shack, David is an avid enthusiast of fishing, hiking, nature, and travel.
These interests align seamlessly with his love for radio, which he describes as a passion for exploring propagation, discovering new cultures, learning foreign languages, and connecting with people across the globe.

348DA101 David joins the DA-RC with a clear vision:
“I’d like to become a member of DA-RC in order to contribute my skills and experience in the field of radio communications.
I have the opportunity to carry out activations from the Caribbean, which will allow me to promote the DA-RC group and represent it worldwide.
My goal is to represent the group positively and help expand its international presence.”

We’re thrilled to have this exciting OM on board our dx adventure team!
348DA101 David’s commitment to promoting 11m DX activity and his ambitious plans for future activations throughout the Caribbean islands mark the beginning of a vibrant new chapter for our group in the region.
Please join us in giving a warm DA-RC welcome to David, 348DA101 / 207DA101!
