Decades of DX-perience, a powerhouse station, and a deep love of radio comms define 21DA101 Roger of northern Europe…
Our Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is proud to welcome 21DA101 Roger (See pictured above), whose home QTH is in beautiful Tomelilla, southern Sweden.
A true veteran of the airwaves with a passion for radio spanning more than half a century, this popular and well-respected guy links with the club in late January, 2026!

21DA101 Roger’s journey into radio began back in 1970, when Santa Claus delivered his very first radio…
“It’s just continued that way since then,” Rog says — and more than 50 years later, that spark is clearly still alive.
With over five decades of experience in radio communications, Roger is well known and highly regarded within the global Freeband DX community.
His DX hunting has included active involvement in several respected clubs, including Radio Sierra, Radio Charlie, and the World Radio Club.
Over the years, furthermore, his dedication and operating skill have resulted in more than 170 DXCC worked on 11 metres, comfortably qualifying him for DA-RC membership in the ‘DX Chaser Category’.

According to the Atlas, the Kingdom of Sweden occupies a strategic position in Northern Europe, forming the eastern half of the almighty Scandinavian Peninsula…
Often called “Det avlånga landet” (the elongated country), this gorgeous Nordic DXCC shares borders with Norway (20 Division) to the west and Finland (56) to the northeast, while lying just across the Baltic Sea from Denmark (47), Germany (13), Poland (161), and the Baltic States.

Roger’s QTH in Tomelilla, located in the southern region of Sweden, places him within excellent reach of continental Europe — a key reason why Scandinavian stations like his are so frequently heard in European and transcontinental DX pile-ups…
Tomelilla itself is a charming town in the heart of Österlen, one of Sweden’s most picturesque regions.
The area is known for its rolling countryside, apple orchards, historic farms, and sweeping Baltic Sea coastline.
Another great advantage of Tomelilla is its proximity to the Baltic Sea and some of the region’s most exquisite IOTA DX destinations.
These include Bornholm and Ertholmene islands in the Bornholm Islands Group (EU-030), Öland Island in the Kalmar County group (EU-037), and many more — making it an ideal location for both serious DXing and IOTA chasing.

Nearby attractions include Tosselilla Sommarland, the dramatic landscapes of Brösarp’s rolling hills, and the coastal village of Kivik, famous for its cider and maritime heritage…
The region is also closely associated with legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, giving Tomelilla a strong cultural identity.
For our Club’s resident Swede, it’s an ideal base too — peaceful, spacious, and perfectly suited to both antenna installations and outdoor pursuits.

21DA101 Roger’s station in Tomelilla, Skåne County, is purpose-built for DX success…
At the heart of his shack are an impressive lineup of transceivers, including the Icom IC-7700, IC-7300, and IC-7100, alongside the Yaesu FT-2000D and famous FT-1000MP Mark V.
Power is delivered by two state-of-the-art Acom-1000 amplifiers, giving his signal serious authority and making it one of the loudest and cleanest to come out of the Scandinavian region.
Audio quality is equally important to this DX Guy, who prefers the high performance, studio-grade sound of Heil Goldline GM5 microphones.
Outside 21DA101 Roger’s home, his antenna farm is every DXer’s fantasy…
Two towers support a monster 5-element Delta Loop and a 10-element Cushcraft multiband Yagi, topped with a Gain Master vertical for 11 metres.
Beam control is handled by dual Yaesu G-1000DXC rotors, providing maximum flexibility when chasing rare DX.
For VHF work, Roger also runs a Sirio CX 4-68, a 4-meter base station antenna (68-73 MHz) durable, low-gain, omnidirectional antenna, designed for vertical polarization.
Long before DX clusters and instant spotting became the norm, this Swedish fitness fanatic was already building an enviable logbook.
His totals include 176 DXCC, with the majority achieved before the internet and cluster era — a clear testament to his operating skill, patience, and commitment to the hobby.
Professionally, Roger spent 25 years working for Tetra Pak, the famous Swedish multinational food packaging and processing company…
Now retired, the former technician enjoys a full and active life away from the shack.
He spends time with his wife, keeps fit through regular training, and continues his passion for antenna construction.
He also loves camping, making the most of Sweden’s vast outdoor spaces, and is a keen vintage car enthusiast, with a deep appreciation for classic engineering and timeless design.
Like many DA-RC members working the upper end of 27 MHz, 21DA101 Roger regularly monitors the International Call Frequency from his home QTH….
He’s happy to exchange traditional QSL cards via the coordinates below and also enjoys confirming contacts through e-QSL and cluster services.
Please join us in giving a warm DA-RC welcome to 21DA101 Roger.
If you hear a strong, clean Scandinavian signal on 27.555 USB, there’s a very good chance it’s Roger calling!
