*RESULTS* 2021 Santa Claus Contest

Results are in for the Dx Adventure Radio Club’s 2021 Santa Claus Contest in both the Hunter and Activator categories with some astonishing performances noted.

The aim of the Santa Claus Contest is to spread Christmas cheer in the 11m DX Community, and, to provide a professionally managed radio sports experience for the world’s freeband DX population.

Against these criteria, then, coupled with the impressive feats of DA and non-DA participants, the Santa Claus Contest was a huge success!

SANTA CLAUS CATEGORY

Incredibly, more than 2000 verified contacts were crafted by the 14 x Delta-Alfa Santa Claus (SC) stations who were QRV over the 31 days of December.

These contacts were made with 89 DXCC, across DX markets consisting of Asia, Oceania, Europe, North and South America, and Africa, and included some of the rarest entities on the eleven meter band.

Logs received by the project manager confirm that competition for the top 3 positions was intense.

In fact only a meagre 2 points (2 contacts) separated the top 2 activants.

Congratulations to 14DA037 Viviane in France who claimed first place with 263 contacts, made with 59 DXCC.

In doing so, Viviane consolidated her standing as one of the world’s leading DX Hunters and looks destined for a profitable Cycle 25 indeed.

Snapping at her heals, and in second position in the SC category, was DA-RC HQ Team Member 43DA001 Darren.

From his home QTH in Queensland, Australia, Darren achieved 261 contacts, with 47 DXCC.

Wrapping up the top 3 was big gun South American DXer 3DA105 Jose.

Situated in the Federative Republic of Brazil, Jose achieved 94 contacts with 35 DXCC, narrowly overcoming compatriot 3DA011 Luiz (fourth) and 104DA104 Alex on the island of Corsica (fifth), to collect 3rd place.

Whilst we acknowledge Viviane, Darren and Jose for their tremendous triumphs, congratulations to all members who accepted the responsibility of working as an SC Station in this event.

Without your contribution, the contest would not have been the wonderful success it was.

SANTA CLAUS HUNTER CATEGORY

The Santa Claus Hunter category was open to both Delta-Alfa and non-Delta-Alfa members.

This category saw the 14 x DA/SC stations as fiercely coveted.

The spread of locations of these stations, too, meant that working multiple SC stations was a significant challenge indeed.

In this category, 14DA037 Viviane and 43DA001 Darren again topped the leader board, working 5 DA/SC stations each, over the course of their own SC work.

6 stations tied for third place, working 4 x SC Stations each.

They included 14DA010 Stef, 104DA104 Alex, 3DA105 Jose and 79DA383 Conrad from the DA-RC, and 26AT239 Tim and 14AT047 Yoann from the Alfa Tango club.

Congratulations to all operators who took part in this category and thank you very much for your support of this radio sports event.
