14DA045 Christophe hails from Fresnoy-le-Grand, a commune in the Aisne department in Hauts-de-France in the northern part of the country, 45 km from Laon, the department capital and 144 km from Paris.
Also the home of famous cookware manufacturer Le Creuset which was founded there in 1925 by Armand Desaegher and Octave Aubecq, the village of Fresnoy-le-Grand has a strong athletic club which was formed in 1942 called the Association Sportive de Fresnoy (ASF).
Popular places to visit nearby for tourists include Cambrai at 27 km – Scene of the Battle of Cambrai – and Maroilles at 32 km – a village in an attractive riverside setting with abbey buildings and a famous cheese.
The DA-RC’s “Fresnovsien” (The affectionate nickname given to locals) has compiled an impressive station which, at the time of writing, consists of Yaesu FT857D + YAESU FT 1900 transceivers, an FJ949E antenna tuner and Cushcraft MA5B, Diamond X200N, G5RV and Skypper antennas.
In addition to being a regular voice on 27 MHz frequencies where he’s amassed a total of 280 DXCC, Christophe is a busy contributor on the hobby forums such as radio-dx44, radioamateur.org and others.
His interests in the hobby are diverse and he enjoys sharing ideas and opinions on things such as antennas and rigs with like minded friends.
When not busy on the bands, Christophe jogs for physical fitness. He has a fiercely competitive spirit and is known to participate in short marathons and fun runs. Christophe also enjoys and karate for self-defence and is a mad football (soccer) fan.
14DA045 Christophe monitors the International Calling frequency 27.555 MHz USB where he’s fast to snavel rare dx.
He’s also keen to team up with fellow Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) members in France to activate IOTAS and IWI in the years to come!
