*MEET* 14DA011 Cedric

Western Europe (EU) is blessed with some extraordinary Freeband DX Hunters indeed; DX-Men and Women who’s CQ DX calls stab at the bubble of any sought after DX station and are committed—no matter what—to nabbing the rare or most wanted ones.

In that top echelon of DX freaks—at the forefront of our super exciting hobby—is new Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) member 14DA011 Cedric—DXpedition front man, hellbent chaser of rare entities and respected DX community member.

Skilled and experienced on so many levels, we’re delighted to have 14DA011 Cedric—in the Hérault department of southern France—on board from mid-April 2024.

It’s at a time, too, when Cedric (Shown above) is committed to achieving high DXCC numbers with his new Delta-Alfa callsign and maintaining his status as one of the 27 MHz communities most threatening ‘Big Guns’!

Competent—not only in the hunt for ‘Most Wanted’ DXCC—but also in the sphere of ‘Most Wanted’ DXpedition work, this fresh DX guy is undoubtedly the full DX package…

A sizeable 270 Divisions confirmed over a period of 30 years—realized through past involvements with the Echo Tango (ET) and Romeo Charlie (RC) clubs respectively—justifies 14DA011 Cedric’s acceptance into the club.

No doubt he’ll be nudging the elusive 300 milestone too, given his genuine competitive nature, combined with his lengthy experience, and a very well-equipped station indeed!

It’s in the exciting arena of dx adventure, however, where 14DA011 Cedric’s resume is most remarkable and these feats also qualify him for membership in the DXpedition Category.

Impressively, 14DA011 Cedric has pinned several successful dxpeditions, and among them were numerous rare entities too…

San Marino (36), Andorra (51), Dodecanese Islands (59), Cyprus (110) on two occasions, an Aland Islands IOTA tour (7 islands) (212) and Akrotiri and Dechelia (291) (2 Times), as well as some exquisite French IOTA and IWI dxstinations, are impressive notches in his dx adventure portfolio.

In the Occitanie region, Cedric’s home village—Tourbes—sits amongst hills dotted with vineyards, garrigue and pine forests, on the outskirts of Pézenas.

In addition to its world-class wines, this peaceful one-thousand-year-old village is renowned for several houses from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, a legacy of the past.

It’s also home to the impressive 13th century Saint-Saturnin church—built on the orders of King Louis IX—with its spectacular Mediterranean Gothic architecture.

The composition of 14DA011 Cedric’s home shack smacks of diversity…

In fact, several top line transceivers compliment the very best of dx-cessories (e.g. ACOM, MFJ, etc.) for top-end DX action.

An ICOM 756 PRO-III and Kenwood TS-870 DSP provide full coverage while a PR-781 professional quality dynamic cardioid microphone by audio giant Heil Sound provides a full-bodied tone quality, with crisp high-frequency articulation.

These ensure his TX audio is always cutting edge!

Saddled alongside his rigs on the radio shack benchtop is an impressive ACOM 1000 HF linear amplifier which super-charges TX signals across the globe.

Reportedly, this complete self-contained unit covers all amateur bands—from 1.8 through 54 MHz—and provides over 1000 W output power across the bands.

This includes 27 MHz frequencies and various call channels such as 27.555 MHz USB where Cedric spends the majority of this time!

14DA011 Cedric’s energetic personality is fully evident in his choice of recreational activities…

As you can imagine, travel is a priority for this guy and his family and leisure pursuits such as mountain and forest trekking—from his various dxstinations—are a favoured past time.

In his home community though, tennis, fishing and quad and motor bikes occupy his time and these activities ensure our resident DX-Man is always fit and at the top of his game!

“I’m employed as a technician,” explains Cedric.

“I work day to day engaged in an after-market service in a big multi-national petrol company…”

Whether it’s from the comfort of his home shack or out and about in the field, 14DA011 Cedric is never far from the microphone.

Exchanging QSL cards to confirm contacts is one of his biggest goals and we’re happy to say that this marvelous Mediterranean DX-Man can be contacted via the details below!
