*MEET* 30DA201 Jose

From Summits On The Air (SOTA) activities amidst peak-topped clouds, World Beauties Award (WBA) DXpedition camps to prestigious landmarks, and retail electronics stalls across “La Piel de Toro” (The Bull’s Skin), this guy represents the perfect blend of adventurous spirit, technical expertise and relentless passion for the world of Freeband DX Comms…

Our Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is delighted to introduce another experienced European Freeband and licensed Ham operator who joins our ranks — 30DA201 Jose from the beautiful Kingdom of Spain.

This well-respected guy links with our club in late April 2026!

Situated on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, 30DA201 Jose’s country — Spain (30 Division) — is a DXCC famous for its rich history, vibrant culture, rugged mountain ranges and sun-drenched Mediterranean coastline.

Bordering Portugal (31) to the west and France (14) and Andorra (51) to the northeast, Spain has long been regarded as one of Europe’s great crossroads of culture and communication.

For radio operators like 30DA201 Jose and several other Spanish DA members, it’s also one of the true powerhouses of the global 11-metre scene, producing some of the finest DX hunters and most technically skilled guys anywhere in the world.

30DA201 Jose lives in the town of Picassent, just south of the historic city of Valencia, and brings with him more than three decades of radio experience…

Born in 1980, he first stepped behind a microphone at only 12 years of age.

What began as youthful curiosity soon developed into a lifelong passion for radio communications, technical experimentation and DX adventure.

Today, after 33 years on the airwaves, Jose is widely respected for both his operating ability and his deep technical knowledge of antennas and electronics.

Positioned on Spain’s stunning Mediterranean coastline, Valencia also serves as the perfect gateway and launchpad to the islands scattered off the Spanish coast.

This includes the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, therefore making Jose’s QTH an ideal base for future island activations and maritime-style DXpedition adventures throughout the Mediterranean region.

Before joining the DA-RC, Jose was active under the callsigns 30LO2952 with the Lima Oscar Club and later 30SD227 with the Sugar Delta group…

Alongside his freeband activities, he is also a licensed amateur radio operator, giving him experience across multiple areas of the radio hobby.

Jose’s radio journey has already included several memorable highlights.

He was a member of the well-known 51SD/DX Andorra Team, operating alongside fellow operator and now-DA member 31DA010 Sergio during adventure-style activations from the mountains of Andorra.

Earlier in his radio career, while operating with the Romeo Papa Bravo Club in Castellón, Jose and his team secured an impressive third place in the CQ11WW Team Competition — a significant achievement in one of the hobby’s most competitive operating environments.

Among fellow operators, 30DA201 Jose has built a strong reputation as a dependable and highly capable DXpedition team member.

Whether setting up portable stations in difficult terrain, troubleshooting equipment issues in the field or chasing rare DX from mountain summits, he is known as someone who thrives in real-world operating conditions.

His enthusiasm for antenna construction and portable radio adventure perfectly reflects the spirit and philosophy of the Dx Adventure Radio Club.

Professionally, 30DA201 Jose works as a specialist in automotive diagnostics and security programming, but his technical skills extend far beyond the automotive world.

He possesses extensive experience in the design and manufacture of UHF and PMR Yagi antennas, open dipole systems and UDA folded dipole antennas.

Operators who know 30DA201 Jose quickly recognize his passion for RF performance, experimentation and precision engineering…

Jose officially linked with the DA-RC in late April 2026 and comfortably satisfies membership criteria in both the DXpeditioner and DX Hunter categories — recognition earned through years of activity, technical contribution and commitment to the international 11-metre community.

One particularly impressive aspect of 30DA201 Jose’s station is his continuously operating SDR monitoring system on 11 metres…

Running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using Airspy software, operators from around the globe can remotely connect to his SDR receiver to monitor propagation conditions and band activity across Europe.

With the antenna mounted approximately 14 metres above roof level, the station provides excellent receive capability and has become a valuable monitoring point for serious DX operators.

Away from the airwaves, 30DA201 Jose is also a familiar face at the popular Merca-Radio markets throughout the Valencia region, where he regularly operates a stand table selling radio equipment and electronic items.

These events have helped him establish strong friendships within the local radio community while continuing to share his enthusiasm for communications technology with fellow hobbyists.

The region surrounding Picassent offers an ideal environment for an adventurous radio operator…

Nearby lies the spectacular Albufera Natural Park (Shown above), famous for its wetlands, wildlife and breathtaking sunsets across the lagoon.

Valencia itself combines ancient Spanish architecture with modern attractions such as the world-famous City of Arts and Sciences complex shown left, while the nearby mountains provide outstanding locations for portable radio and summit activations.

For an operator like Jose, the combination of mountains, open countryside and Mediterranean coastline creates the perfect backdrop for radio adventure.

30DA201 Jose’s station equipment reflects his serious approach to the hobby…

At home he operates a Yaesu FTDX-3000 connected to a Sirio 827 antenna system, while his mobile setup features a Yaesu FT-891 paired with a Sirio Turbo 5000 mounted on a Hustler XL base using Aircell7 coaxial cable — all installed in his trusty Peugeot 106 mobile station.

Operators like Jose represent exactly what the Dx Adventure Radio Club stands for — technical knowledge, operating skill, adventure, teamwork and a genuine passion for radio communications.

We’re extremely pleased to welcome 30DA201 Jose into the DA-RC family and look forward to hearing him active from Spain, mountain summits and future DXpedition locations for many years to come.

Welcome aboard, Jose!
