The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is thrilled to celebrate the membership of 24DA023 Gigi, who officially joins our ranks in mid-February 2026.
A dynamic and passionate lady operator, Gigi brings decades of know-how, a vibrant spirit, and a lifelong love for radio comms to the Delta-Alfa family.
Hailing from Chiriquí Province, Panama, a region famed for towering mountains, fertile valleys, lush coffee plantations, and the majestic Volcán Barú, 24DA023 Gigi’s home is as stunning as it is quiet—the perfect backdrop for her radio adventures…
Panama, perched at the crossroads of Central and South America, bordered by Costa Rica (69) and Colombia (6), with both the Caribbean and Pacific at its shores, provides unique propagation paths for DXing across the Americas and beyond.
24DA023 Gigi’s journey in amateur radio began in the 1990s, and her passion has only grown stronger with time….
A licensed operator (HP3GNG), she is active on the 2-metre band but is perhaps best known for her love of 27 MHz Freeband DXing, especially on the International Call Frequency, 27.555 MHz USB on which she monitors religiously.
Here, she doesn’t just make contacts—she fosters friendship, camaraderie, and unforgettable connections with radio friends across the airways.
Every QSL card she collects tells a story, each signal a bridge to faraway lands and like-minded operators!
24DA023 Gigi’s station is simple yet highly effective…
It consists of a Yaesu FT-100 transceiver, a Yaesu MD-1 microphone, and a long-wire antenna, perfectly suited to Chiriquí’s quiet valleys and high take-off paths.
From here, she hunts DX, chats with fellow hams, and Freeband OMs and explores the magic of radio propagation.
A former member of the Alfa Tango club, 24DA023 Gigi satisfies DA-RC membership requirements in both the Leadership and DX Chaser categories…
On the leadership front, she has active roles in Asociación de Radioaficionados de la República de Honduras, Radio Caribe Internacional, Radioafición en Vivo Puerto Rico, and the Radio Experimenters Group.
This wonderful Panameño is a mentor, educator, and tireless promoter of radio, sharing her knowledge with operators of all ages and fostering the next generation of YLs and DX hunters.
Away from the microphone, 24DA023 Gigi is a proud mother and grandmother, with family at the centre of her world…
Her life is full of adventure and energy: reading, writing, Zumba, cycling, gardening, agriculture, independent teaching, health education, and exploring Panama’s natural beauty far from the city hustle.
