*SOON ACTIVE* 29DA/EU-121, Arranmore Island

The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is thrilled to announce an electrifying IOTA operation that’s set to ignite the eleven meter band in the next few days.

Renowned operator 13DA016 Mike – on holiday from Germany – is preparing for a short, sharp incursion into the Irish Coastal Islands IOTA Group, and Island Hunters across the globe will be vying for a place in his log.

Designated EU-121 by the World Island Program, this stunning island group lies off Ireland’s rugged northwest coast in County Donegal.

Situated along the Atlantic edge of the province of Ulster, these islands offer both breathtaking scenery and a rare radio opportunity few have experienced.

Mike’s target: the spectacular and seldom-activated Arranmore Island.

To reach the island, 13DA016 Mike will make a 5 km sea crossing from the mainland via one of the local ferry services operating between the fishing village of Burtonport and Arranmore.

Once on site, he’ll deploy a potent portable station consisting of a Yaesu FT-450D transceiver, a KL-503 300-watt amplifier, and a home-made quarter-wave vertical antenna — a setup purpose-built for high-performance DX from remote terrain.

Whether you’re chasing EU-121 for the first time or filling band slots from this rare coastal DXCC, this activation promises to be a high-octane event.

Expect strong signals, rapid pileups, and a rare shot at logging one of Ireland’s most remote island entities.
