Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) member YD6HHH / 91DA803 Indra has spent the weekend at his home on Sumatera Island constructing and then erecting a couple of new home-made vertical antennas to sit alongside his huge 5 element yagi. One, a VHF 145 MHz 5/8 Lamda style stick and the other a 430-440 MHz home-brew type for the 70cm band.
Utilizing the walls of a neighbour’s house that had been empty for many years, Indra and his friends from the local ham radio club were able to scale the roof and then drill in the necessary fittings, despite some complaints from neighbours.
Both verticals stand on 1.5 inch galvanized pipe, and with an SWR of 1:1 during testing, Indra’s VHF signal was clearly audible from a fishing boat at Mobile One.
Next on the agenda for YD6HHH / 91DA803 Indra and his friends on Sumatera island is a new home-made six element delta-loop which he hopes to go up soon.
Together with his new vertical antennas, we’re certain this will provide DA-RC’s popular OC-143 member with plenty more enjoyment across the bands!
