Here is my brief account of the dx adventure 14DA/SI Sète Island in Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées in August 2016…
Excited, I arrived on Sete Island on Saturday evening at 5:00 pm French time with my bags and installed the radio equipment.
This comprised of a Yaesu FT857D transceiver and KLV 400 amplifier, Heil Headset, Alinco DM- 33 switch mode power supply, OMVE 30A, paper log and the STIK antenna on the balcony.
The activation started on Sunday 07-08-2016 at 9:00 hours French time with numerous calls made on the International Call Frequency 27.555 MHz USB.
The first station to find this diminutive island in French Department 34 on the eleven meter airways was 14TW001 Manu in the Essonne department in Île-de-France.
Fortunately, the spread of stations from across Europe was good this Sunday with more than 80 people in the log.
The remainder of the 114 stations logged in the 2 weeks I was on the island, however, was done little by little over the rest of my seaside vacation as propagation was not so good.
The last contact in the log was 47PL122 Arne in the Kingdom of Denmark.
