n incredible start to the Fiji IOTA Tour with more than 900 stations logged in less than 3 days for 99DA/OC-016, Viti Levu Island.
Propagation was favourable and the team spent many hours behind the microphone in their ham friendly Nadi accommodation working through some monster pile-ups and overcoming some big challenges along the way too.
The result was a “new one” for many island hunters and many happy DXers all around the world!
Below you can see a selection of the photographs taken by team members 43DA001 Darren (Australia) and 172DA010 Kevin (New Caledonia) for this first of many island dx adventures in the heart of the South Pacific with many images set to follow on the special QSL card.

Another great job guys. I know the conditions to North EU can be very challenging with very small signals and lots of polar attenuation – having myself operated from Beachcomber [OC-121] and Nacula in the Yasawas Islands back in 2004. Was tinkering with an antenna in my house while monitoring 27.555 on a local SDR station on my computer and heard Giovanni @ 21:06 UTC calling and inviting ops to QSY to .580!
Immediately jumped to my car (I am a mobile only operator) and put the 1/4 wave on the roof of the car and called Giovanni. He heard me and gave me a 5X5 and the same for him! All in 6 minutes! ITL!!! today @ 21:06 UTC. Hooray! 2AT111
