The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is excited to reveal details of its upcoming dxpedition to the paradisical Republic of Palau, an archipelago located in the north-western Pacific, and one of Oceania’s “Most Wanted” DXCC entities.
The HQ Team is thrilled to announce that 41DA981 Giovanni will be QRV from this spectacular Micronesian island country, from March 27, 2024.
This is the same experienced guy who brought you 272DA/0 from the island of Niue and 99DA/OC-016 from Fiji’s Viti Levu Island in 2023!
This year’s dxstination, Palau (officially the Republic of Palau), consists of approximately 340 islands and connects the western chain of the Caroline Islands with parts of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Also known as “Belau” which is the Palauan word for “village”, this diminutive QTH has a total area of 466 square km, making it one of the smallest countries in the world.
The most populous island is known to be Koror, and this is home to the country’s most populous city of the same name.
Sharing the same OC IOTA reference as other 134 Division islands, it’s here where Giovanni will base his portable station too, headlined by a skypper antenna, contemporary transceiver and amplifier to maximize opportunities.
According to the world atlas, Palau shares maritime boundaries with international waters to the north, the Federated States of Micronesia (230 Division) to the east, Indonesia (91 Division) to the south, and the Philippines (79 Division) to the northwest.
Please check out all the information (e.g. QSLM, links, sponsorship opportunity, grid square, IOTA referencing, etc.) pertaining to this dx adventure, and others by members of the DA-RC, in the right hand side menu under ‘DXpedition Activities’.
Here, you can also follow the ‘Live Log’ to check the status of your contact, as well as which stations are being heard from this tiny morsel of tropical IOTA DX.
Good luck to all!
