Attention IOTA Hunters!
In late February 2023, experienced dxpeditioner 14DA049 Fred will lead a team of guys to the Brittany region of France for an activation of Groix Island in the Bretagne (Morbihan) Region IOTA group.
Situated off the southern coast of Brittany—in northwest France—Groix is part of the picturesque Morbihan department in the Bay of Biscay, from Point Penmarc’h to the Spanish border, and the northern coast of Spain west to Cape Ortegal.
Nicknamed the Garnet Island, this IOTA dxstination is surrounded by other isles in the EU-048 group.
The second largest island in Brittany at just 24 square km, Groix is located northwest of Ile de Belle-Île-en-Mer and within a stone’s throw of Ile de Ploemeur.
Groix is located 5.3 km south of the Pointe du Talud on the mainland.
The dx adventure team will travel to the island by boat from Lorient, Port-Louis or the port of Doëlan and arrive at Port Tudy.
This is the largest fishing port and marina on the island.
