*MEET* 91DA100 Agie

On the volcano dotted island of Java, in the Republic of Indonesia, resides Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) member 91DA100 Agie who joins our club in early April, 2020.

Like many DA-RC members, Agie is a licensed ham whom also shares a love of CB radio operations.

In fact, he’s been QRV on 27 MHz frequencies — chasing DX or in rag chew with radio friends — for more than 20 years as a member of the Indonesian ‘Nusantara Radio International Dx Group’.

An imposing antenna array (See pictured right) and home station, decked out with an impressive collection of ‘old’ and ‘new’ transceivers, ensures 91DA100 Agie is always a big signal on the band.

“I use many types of CB and many types of ham radio in my shack,” explains Angie.  “But usually I use an old school Yaesu FT-7 with 20 watt running power.”

“My main antennas on the tower are a Sigma 4 vertical and a 5-element yagi.  Both are home made by myself…”

In southeast Asia, 91DA100 Agie’s city is ‘Bekasi’ in West Java, on the eastern border of Jakarta, the country’s capital region.

This city is said to be one of the oldest in Indonesia.

In fact, Bekasi has a history of being the capital city of the Kingdom of Tarumanagara and was established about the 5th century AD

Attractions here are Situ Rawa Gede Lake, Go! Wet Waterpark and Summarecon Mall.

91DA100 Agie is regarded as a true adventurer; a guy with a zest for life and many interests.

Outside of the radio comms hobby, Agie works as a Helicopter Flight Maintenance Engineer.

He completed study at the Aviation Polytechnic College in 1989 and has worked in the Indonesian Aircraft Industry ever since.

When he’s not making repairs, troubleshooting problems, conducting inspections or making upgrades to aircraft in his job, or soaring the skies above Java Island in a ‘chopper’, 91DA100 Agie enjoys spending time with his family, travelling across southeast Asia, sightseeing, farming and gardening.

Not surprisingly, he loves working with electronics.

91DA100 Agie’s city is also the home base of a professional soccer team, Bhayangkara FC, who compete in the Liga 1 competition.

Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium is the home stadium of the club, and reportedly close to Agie’s home.

You’ll find 91DA100 Agie on the international call frequency 27.555 MHz USB when the DX is running hot or in QSO with other island operators on the Indonesian chat frequency, 27.305 MHz USB.
