*MEET* 91DA018 Rudi

The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is proud to introduce to you 91DA018 Rudi from the Republic of Indonesia whose membership is approved in early November, 2020.

A keen and profitable DX Hunter who satisfies DA-RC membership demands in this category, 91DA018 Rudi has been involved in 11m band communications for more than 20 years.

In the local radio community, 91DA018 Rudi is known especially for his expertise in antennas; experimentation, testing and design.

In fact, he’s made dipoles, loops, verticals and more for 27 MHz ops, achievements of which are featured on his Youtube channel.

91DA018 Rudi’s home in the South-East Asian archipelago is the world’s most-populous island — Java — which carries the IOTA reference OC-021 in accordance with the RSGB’s IOTA Program.

Bordered by the Indian Ocean on the south and the Java Sea on the north, Java lies between Sumatra (OC-143) to the west and Bali (OC-022) to the east while Borneo (OC-088) lies to the north, and Christmas Island (OC-002) is to the south.

Here 91DA018 Rudi resides in the country’s capital city — Jakarta — on the shores of Jakarta Bay.

Nicknamed the “Big Durian” after the thorny strongly-odored fruit that’s native to the region, Jakarta is situated on the northwest coast of the island, at the mouth of the Ciliwung River, an inlet of the Java Sea.

Home to many DA-RC Members, Jakarta is regarded as a dynamic and vibrant city, one that’s influenced by Javanese, Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and European cultures.

It’s famous for its colourful festivals, markets, shopping malls, cuisine and architecture.

Famous tourist attractions include the National Monument (Monumen Nasional or Monas), the Istiqlal Mosque, Sunda Kelapa Harbor, Taman Suropati gardens, the Kota Tua Jakarta Museum and many more!

91DA018 Rudi’s station consists of a Kenwood TS-440S transceiver with an MC-43S hand microphone.

Outside his residence, a homemade Delta Loop and Avante Sigma 4 combine perfectly to provide a serious DX station.

When he’s not active on the radio or tinkering with electrics, 91DA018 Rudi enjoys swimming and bicycling.

A Honda motorcycle rider, Rudi is also a member of the Honda Brotherhood which meets each year.

The Honda Bikers Day (HBD) event attracts upwards of 40,000 bikers each year!

Like most of our 91 Division members, you’ll hear 91DA018 Rudi on the International Call frequency — 27.555 MHz USB — or his country’s chat frequency which is 27.305 MHz USB.
