In the United Kingdom, 68DA107 Kenny joins the Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) in late May 2018 via the ‘DX Hunter’ category, eager to embrace our club’s famous adventurous spirit.
A popular and enthusiastic Eleven Meter Band DXer, 68DA107 Kenny has been QRV in the radio communications hobby for more than 12 years.
He joins a growing list of professional guys in “Norn Iron” who’ll no doubt be committed to the field of dx adventure in the years to come.
From his home QTH in Northern Ireland he has established a reputation as one of his country’s best up and coming DX Hunters; one whom is regularly heard across 27 MHz frequencies chasing contacts with radio friends across Europe.
Kenny’s previous callsign was 68KR001 and this has been heavily linked with local nets, also, in which he’s always a keen and profitable contributor.
At the time of linking with the DA-RC, Kenny’s working conditions consist of a Superstar 3900 multi-mode transceiver, an Imax 2000 vertical antenna by Solarcon and 4 element yagi antenna high above the roof top.
68DA107 Kenny’s signal emanates from an area just outside of Larne on the east coast of County Antrim.
While 68 Division is known for its Norman castles, glacial valleys and mountains, Celtic and Christian monuments, and coastal links golf courses, the Larne township is better known for its international seaport and the richness of its cultural heritage.
The Larne Museum and Art Centre, Chaine Memorial Lighthouse, Carnfunnock County Park, the ruins of Olderfleet Castle, the St. MacNissi’s Church and so many more are popular tourist attractions.
When he’s not behind the mic calling “CQ”, 68DA107 Kenny is known to be wrapped up in competitive motor sport in a major way.
The adrenaline rush of moto racing and moto cross are firm faves and Kenny’s personal Facebook page, in fact, is littered with incredible action shots of his participation in racing events.
This love of motor sport runs in the family also with Kenny’s cousin Jonathan Rea a 3 times World Champion of moto racing.
