The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is proud to announce that ‘Team Brazil’ has been bolstered by the addition of veteran Freeband DX Hunter and competent IOTA Dxpeditioner 3DA148 Tony.
Tony’s membership application is approved in the last days of December 2020 with his outstanding exploits in the ‘DX Hunter’ category taken into consideration.
[See ‘Become a DA-RC Member’ at https://www.delta-alfa.com/about/membership/].
Evidence available to DA-RC HQ indicates that 3DA148 Tony has amassed an extraordinary 230 divisions on 27 MHz frequencies, during a period of more than 25 years involvement in the hobby.
His work in the 11m DX community, furthermore, has been across previous associations with the Alfa Tango and Romeo Charlie clubs.
Not only is DA148 Tony in Brazil an acclaimed DX Hunter but he’s also experienced in the area of DXpedition work, having undertaken an Islands On The Air (IOTA) dxpedition to the Maranhao State Centre group (SA-016) for one of his previous clubs.
With the emergence of Solar Cycle 25 and better-quality propagation upon us, however, Tony looks forward to commencing numerous dx adventures under the guise of his new Delta-Alfa QRZ in the years to come!
An updated DA-RC Directory indicates that 3DA148 Tony hails from the rugged state of Goiás in the central-west part of his country.
His home QTH here is the state’s second largest city, Aparecida de Goiânia.
Aparecida, like Goiânia, has a strong influence of country music.
The city has many music festivals, such as Aparecida é Show, a festival of rodeo and country music (also known as Rodeio Show), Goiás é Show, and festivals of shows of various musical genres, such as rock, funk, axé, and the sertanejo.
In addition to Formula One motor racing, one of 3DA148 Tony’s interests outside of radio comms, in fact, is trance music which is an electronic genre of music that’s been massive in Brazil since the late 90’s.
With more than 2000 beaches, Brazil is the perfect place to party outdoors at a psytrance festival such as Universo Parallelo Festival which attracts thousands of people from around the world.
In addition to several concert halls in Aparecida, other places of interest include the Mother Church of Our Lady of Aparecida and the Annibal Batista de Toledo Stadium which is home to 2 successful footy clubs: Aparecidense and Aparecida.
A religious celebration that attracts tourists to this industrial city is the festival of its patroness, Nossa Senhora Aparecida.
3DA148 Tony’s home station entails a Maxlog M-8900 rig which covers 25.165 to 30.115 MHz, with an original mic, boosted by a CTE AB300 amp which is capable of 350 watts.
His antennas consist of an omni-directional 5/8 Sigma Mantova and directional element Delta Loop which is his global dx ‘weapon of choice’.
This perfect combination of polarities ensures 3DA148 Tony’s signal is easily heard on the international call frequency, 27.555 MHz USB, where he is most active.
