For the first time in DA-RC’s history, Regional Pilot Stations will represent the Temotu Province DXpedition team and act as a human interface between team members and 11m DX community.
According to the DA-RC website, a ‘DXpedition Pilot’ is defined as…
“A member of the DXpedition Team whom is not part of the Operational Team.
He’s someone who performs an important support role from his home station.
This enables the Operational Team to achieve performance targets…”
Ideally, these guys (See above) blend excellent DXpedition and hobby experience, reliability and a prominent online presence with highly effective communication techniques.
They’ll be supported by net-working tools which include 11dx and Cluster dx, Messaging apps like Whats App and social media platforms such as Facebook.
The job of the Pilots is to be a ‘sounding board’ and a channel for information to and from the DXpedition Team, so as to reduce the Team’s workload in the field.
They’ll funnel important info and filter out the trivial and redundant and so allow the team to do their job on the band.
Info will be shared with the Pilot Network by the DXpedition Team on Pigeon Island regarding operating schedules, QRG’s, split/simplex freq ops, beam headings and more, so the advice is if they share something, then you should take it on board.
The 339 Pilots will provide real-time propagation feedback from their region.
The guys will also act as a regional collection point for complaints and accolades for the DXpedition to ensure operational optimization.
Their job will not be to plan individual skeds, deal with outrageous requests, or relay individual emails to the team.
Ottimo ascolto in nord Italia.
