Introducing a licensed ham operative. Prosperous Freeband DX Chaser. Veteran radio communications DX-pert…
Our Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is thrilled to present to you 32DA102 Christian, whom is QRV from the Republic of Chile, south of the equator, in the southern hemisphere.
Cristian links with our club in mid-October 2022!
Pictured below, this exceptional operator, TX from the western part of South America, has been absorbed in radio comms for more than 35 years, making him one of the most experienced ops of his time.
Known formerly on 27 MHz frequencies as 32ET102, through his association with the Echo Tango club, 32DA102 Christian ticks off stringent DA-RC Membership clauses via the ‘DX Hunter’ category with more than 100 DXCC worked and confirmed.
See https://www.delta-alfa.com/about/membership/
There are countless more profitable years to come for 32DA102 Christian with his Delta-Alfa callsign, too, with Solar Cycle 25 in its earliest stages, and so many more DXCC prospects on the horizon to get his teeth into.
32DA102 Christian joins a remarkable team of DA-RC members in Chile, super active; super committed; and super impressive operators; with their fingerprints all over 11m DX clusters!
Affectionately known by its inhabitants as the ‘pais de los poetas’ or the ‘country of poets’, 32DA102 Cristian’s country, Chile (32 Division), is the southernmost country in the world.
Google Earth indicates that it occupies a long and narrow strip of land between the Andes mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west.
It’s also the closest country to the continent of Antarctica (140 Division).
Among the longest north-south countries in the world, Chile (32) shares land borders with Peru (8) to the north, Bolivia (80) to the north-east, Argentina (4) to the east, and the Drake Passage in the far south.
This is the body of water between South America’s Cape Horn, Chile and the South Shetland Islands (AN-010) of Antarctica.
The world atlas says that the Drake Passage connects the southwestern part of the Atlantic Ocean with the southeastern part of the Pacific Ocean and extends into the Southern Ocean.
32DA102 Cristian’s home QTH is Peñaflor, less than 100km from the Pacific Ocean.
This is the ideal springboard to some of the world’s most sought after IOTA entities, such as the Easter Island IOTA Group.
Peñaflor is a commune and city in the metropolitan region, in the province of Talagante, in the Chilean Central Valley.
Well-constructed for DX success, 32DA102 Cristian’s home station consists of Yaesu FT991A and FTDX101D transceivers.
The FT991A rig is a compact, lightweight package on his radio shack desk, suitable for portable, mobile and base installations; while the FTDX101D is classified at the high-end of Yaesu’s HF line, and utilizes the latest SDR Technology.
An incredible performing antenna, high above the rooftop of his home, is a Cushcraft A3S tri-band beam antenna.
This threatening DX weapon was built originally for 10, 15 & 20 meters, but has been modified beautifully for use on the 11m band.
Additionally, an Opeck HCS-100, commercial grade, fiberglass base antenna, covering 26-31 MHz provides effective omnidirectional TX/RX capability.
It’s the perfect combo for delving into rare DX, digital, EME, SWL, POTA and SOTA activities which are always at the forefront of his recreational DX work.
In addition to an adoration of ham and freeband comms, 32DA102 Cristian enjoys travel, music, and food.
A passion, though, is downhill biking and 32DA102 Cristian is a talented rider indeed!
This high-adrenalin sport involves mountain biking practiced on steep, rough terrain that often features implausible preposterous jumps, drops, rock gardens and other extreme obstacles
Apart from demanding serious skill, it’s the perfect escape for Cristian from the day-to-day hustle and bustle of life in Peñaflor, as well as his employment in the mines.
Arguably the most popular tourist attraction in Cristian’s vibrant country is Patagonia.
The Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia is by far one of the most beautiful parks in the entire South America continent.
Other famous landmarks are the Atacama Desert, Valle de la Luna, Cueva del Milodon, Cochamó Valley, El Tatio, Ventisquero Colgante Falls, Osorno Volcano and Piedra de la Iglesia.
From his impressive home DX shack, 32DA102 Cristian is QRV on the international Freeband call frequency, Triple 5.
He’s especially keen to trade QSL cards via his QSL Manager to substantiate any international contact.
Welcome Cristian, Attack as hard on the air as on the pump track 😉 Best 73 from Stéphane 14DA010
