The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is proud to introduce to you 29DA032 Brendan in north-western Europe who links with our club in February 2023.

Brendan resides in the Republic of Ireland, a DXCC situated off the coast of England (26 Division) and Wales (163 Division).

An experienced and competent guy behind the mic, 29DA032 Brendan has been involved in radio comms for more than 25 years.

Much of this time was as a member of the old Golden Pheasant DX Club in which is callsign was 29GP32.

Over the courser of his hobby career, 29DA032 Brendan has accumulated more than 200 DXCC on the eleven meter band.

This easily places him in the top echelon of DX Hunters in the United Kingdom, and earns him a reputation as somewhat of a ‘DX predator’.

This total enables him to achieve membership via with DX Hunter Category in accordance with DA-RC Membership Guidelines.

Part of the UK, Ireland is separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George’s Channel.

It’s home to many outstanding DX Hunters, including 29DA010 Charlie who’s a good mate of Brendan’s.

Referenced as EU-115 in keeping with the IOTA World database, Ireland is the second-largest island of the British Isles, the third-largest in Europe, and the twentieth-largest in the world.

Here, 29DA032 Brendan resides in County Monaghan, not far from the lands of Northern Ireland (68 Division).

This pretty QTH is famed for its ancient Irish craft of lace-making, more commonly known as Carrickmacross Lace.

Monaghan is dotted with small mountains, lakes and forests which provides magnificent panoramas.

One of 29DA032 Brendan’s favourite past times is music and Monaghan hosts the prestigious Harvest Time Blues Festival every September.

Also listed on his membership application is a passion for motorcycles and traveling around Europe.

29DA032 Brendan’s local area is home to many old churches such as St Macartan’s Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland.

Committed to his craft, 29DA032 Brendan has amassed a world-class station, one in which no DXCC entity is out of reach!

An ICOM IC-756 Pro III transciever with matching SM-20 microphone, is accompanied by an ACOM 1000 HF linear amplifier which provides 1KW output on all bands from 160 through 6 meters, including 11m.

Overlooking surrounding homes—perched upon a mast high above his residence—is a 5 Element LFA Homebrew Yagi which provides outstanding horizontal directionality for long distance DX.

For omnidirectional capability, propagation testing and local rag chew, 29DA032 Brendan employs a Sirio S-2016 5/8 wave vertical base antenna.

Tunable from 26.4 to 28.2 MHz—with 16 ground planes—this fantastic antenna is made from aluminium with magnesium for better radio conductivity and maximum strength.

Like the majority of Delta-Alfa members across the globe, 29DA032 Brendan is QRV on the international call frequency, 27.555 MHz USB, where his “CQ DX” calls always attract plenty of attention.

When he’s not stalking international DX, 29DA032 Brendan is always up for a rag chew on one of the nearby frequencies.

He’s also keen to exchange QSL cards to confirm any contact made with his station.
