From Central Europe, prominent Polish DX Hunter 161DA005 Jurek joins with the Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) in October 2023.
We’re excited to reveal a popular guy, recognized as one of his country’s leading radio comms hobbyists; a guy who ticks off DA-RC Membership requirements in the DX Hunter category with more than 100 DXCC entities worked.

The home to many distinguished Freeband radio ops, Poland is bordered by Lithuania (311 Division) and Russia (50 Division) to the northeast, Belarus (317 Division) and Ukraine (315 Division) to the east, Slovakia (330 Division) and the Czech Republic (329 Division) to the south, and Germany (13 Division) to the west.
As shown in the map below, Poland also shares maritime boundaries with Denmark (47 Division) and Sweden (21 Division).
From the towering Tatra Mountains to the wild Baltic Sea, Poland is filled with vibrant cities known for their splendid heritage, mouthwatering cuisine and stunning architecture.
161DA005 Jurek resides in the south-eastern part of the country; a rural centre with flowing green hills.
His village is Birczain—a picturesque settlement in Przemyśl County, in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship.
It’s a relaxing part of the world where our new dx adventure man can enjoy some his favourite past times.
As well as spending time with his family and pet dog, fishing, cycling, hiking mountain trails, foraging for mushrooms in the forest (See below) and wildlife photography all compete for time with his beloved radio comms.
An examination of 161DA005 Jurek’s shack will see an impressive collection of modern transceivers and DX-cessories that are capable of wreaking havoc on the eleven meter band.
Modded for general coverage, an IC-756 PRO III HF/50MHz All Mode Transceiver and a compact Kenwood TS-50—ideal for portable DX work—fill spaces on his desk-top.
Outside his home, a 3 element Delta Loop and Skypper provide first class access to international DX on 27 MHz frequencies.
Like most DA-RC Members, 161DA005 Jurek monitors the international call frequency—27.555 MHz USB—where he’s also quick to pounce on that elusive dxpedition station.
He’s happy to exchange QSL cards to confirm a contact with his station and can be contacted via the address below.
