With 299 DXCC entities worked and confirmed, 14DA496 Rino sits at the precipice of DX Hunter stardom, just 1 “New One” away from the illusive 300 mark.
The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is excited to introduce to you this very knowledgeable and popular guy, who links with our club in October 2023.
From his home abode in western France, a stone’s throw from the Atlantic Ocean, 14DA496 Rino has been involved in radio communications since 1985 which makes him one of our club’s most experienced guys.
He’s a former member of the Alfa Tango club but committed to a future with the DA-RC at the inception of solar cycle 25.
14DA496 Rino resides in Falleron, a commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France.
Google maps indicates that it’s a short drive from the Bay of Biscay—an ideal gateway to Islands On the Air (IOTA) action given the presence of several exciting offshore entities just a short distance off the coast.
The department’s islands include Noirmoutier, with a centuries-old castle, and Île d’Yeu, with sand dunes, coves, moorlands and headlands and these are sure to be on 14DA496 Rino’s hit list in the not so distant future.
Both island dxstinations belong to the Pays de la Loire Region group and share the reference EU-064 in accordance with the World IOTA Program.

14DA496 Rino’s department, the Vendée is known for its long coastline and sandy beaches, like those in the towns of Saint-Jean-de-Monts and Les Sables-d’Olonne.
Here, the Zoo des Sables focuses on environmental protection, and is home to lions, monkeys, giraffes and anteaters.
These days, 14DA496 Rino is enjoying a well-earned retirement.
This gives him plenty of time to spend with family and friends and enjoy his favourite hobbies.
When he’s not behind the microphone of his Icom transceiver, 14DA496 Rino enjoys listening to music.
14DA496 Rino’s shack consists of an IC-7600 transceiver by Icom, in line with a KLV-1000 linear amplifier by RM Italy, and various other dx-cessories.
Towering above his home is a homemade 2 element Delta Loop antenna which handles the RM amplifier’s 700 watts output power easily.
A regular user of the international call frequency, 27.555 MHz USB, 14DA496 Rino is a self-confessed “Chasseur de DX!”
He has a strong interest in Islands On The Air (IOTA), Castles On The Air (COTA), Summits On The Air (SOTA) and Mils On The Air (MOTA) and approaches opportunities to work such entities with much enthusiasm.
Like most members, however, 14DA496 Rino also enjoys a ragchew with radio mates when conditions present.
He’s always interested in exchanging QSL cards and can be contacted via the coordinations below…
