*MEET* 14DA078 Fabrice

The République Francaise, in Western Europe, is where you’ll discover new Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) member 14DA078 Fabrice.

Pictured right, Fab connects with our club in early April, 2024, from the largest country in the European Union and the second largest in EU.

A popular and professional radio comms hobbyist in European DX circles, this guy adds to an already impressive line-up of DX-Men in this beautiful northern hemisphere country and we’re blessed to have him on board!

Active in on the Freeband stage since 1986, 14DA078 Fabrice brings with him into the DA-RC a wealth of hobby experience and insight.

According to the history books, he’s a former member of the famous Florida Alfa Tango (FAT), Sugar Delta (SD) and Golf Tango (GT) clubs respectively where he had many enjoyable years.

264 DXCC kills, participation in Island Water Island (IWI) portable work and several successful ops as a Special Event Station (SES) have him well-equipped and 100% qualified for DA-RC membership and a shot at taking things ‘next level’.

Furthermore, he’s thrilled to tackle the new solar cycle and improve band conditions with his new Delta-Alfa callsign and hitting the elusive 300 DXCC mark in the years to come!

Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, the Alps and the Pyrenees, 14DA078 Fab’s country—France—isn’t just a hub of serious Freeband DX action.

It’s also a vibrant conurbation of world famous landmarks, monuments, museums, stunning countryside, fashion, art, wine, cuisine and so much more!

The updated DA-RC Membership Directory has 14DA078 Fabrice residing in Limetz-Villez, a picturesque commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France, 37 km from Versailles.

The Giverny Gardens, Vernon, La Roche-Guyon and Chateau Gaillard are fascinating local attractions.

Intriguingly, Yvelines (Department 78) was home to the Palace of Versailles, the principal residence of the King of France from 1682 until 1789.

These days, the department is known for its rich heritage of historic abbeys and Châteaux, some forty museums, as well as the homes of famous composers, writers and artists.

Importantly, 14DA078 Fabrice’s station is consistent with his desire for Freeband DX ascendancy…

A Kenwood TS-480 transceiver sits on the shack benchtop and packs 100 watts of TX power.

Combined with a Microphone Alinco EMS, this excellent HF & 6m allmode portable and mobile transceiver has a built-in antenna tuner and is modified for general coverage.

A 3 Éléments HB 09 CV yagi is Fab’s choice of antenna and this erection provides excellent performance on the world’s best HF DX band.

High gain, excellent front to back ratio and a sturdy aluminium construction make it the perfect weapon for DX on 27 MHz frequencies.

When he’s not behind the microphone of his Kenwood rig, chasing DX, 14DA078 Fabrice is busy at work, employed as a Conductor de travaux.

His hobbies include travel, boating, relaxing by the sea with his wife and family, football and motorbikes.

Like most guys in the DA-RC, 14DA078 Fabrice closely monitors the international call frequency, 27.555 MHz USB.

Whether it’s chasing rare DX or enjoying a ragchew with radio mates, you’re guaranteed to be hearing lots of this very active and committed guy on the Freeband in the years to come!
