In the French Republic of western Europe, the Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is thrilled to introduce to you veteran Freeband DX Man 14DA062 Gérard.
A keen and successful DX Hunter, 14DA062 Gérard resides in the Nord department and Hauts-de-France region of northern France, within the boundaries of Camphin-en-Carembault, roughly 100km from the North Sea.
It’s a small commune known for its open spaces — hiking trails, forests and farms — as well as some interesting architecture such as the church in Camphin-en-Carembault.
History reveals that 14DA062 Gérard has been involved in radio communications since 1978, making him one of the most experienced guys in the club.
Up until this time, always as an independent station, known on the air as 14 delta fox 62.
A look into 14DA062 Gérard’s shack sees a station well-equipped for eleven meter DX success.
An all band MF/HF/VHF/UHF Yaesu FT-991 A transceiver—with C4FM (System Fusion) Digital capability—and YAESU FT-891 transceiver are his choice of DX artillery from the home QTH.
Meanwhile, a FT-891 multi-band, multi-mode transceiver, also by Yaesu, provides an effective application for mobile/portable dx adventure.
Outside his home, antennas by renowned Italian manufacturer Sirio dominate the skyline…
A factory tuned Sirio 827 5/8 λ base antenna— equipped with excellent multi element ground plane—provides exceptional omnidirectional performance.
As does an SY-4 by the same company, a strong but lightweight, high gain quality 4 element yagi which offers an impressive 11 dBd, 13.15 dBi gain.
“I spend 4 to 5 months of the year in vans all over Europe, and I love DX,” explains 14DA062 Gérard.
“The fact you can change countries regularly means you can open up your address book!”
When he’s not travelling the countryside in his van, or riding solo on one of his several motorbikes, 14DA062 Gérard enjoys relaxing with his pet dogs.
Evidently, it’s the best way to spend retirement, out in the fresh air, exploring new sites, with his 2 canine friends!
14DA062 Gérard monitors the international call frequency 27.555 MHz USB, like most serious DX Hunters on the elven meter band.
From his home station, or out and about in the field, he looks forward to working some incredible DX in the years to come and catching up with his fellow DA-RC friends as often as possible!
Welcome in DA-RC Gérard, enjoy your call.
