*MEET* 14DA026 Nicolas

Experienced.  Effective and as steadfast as it comes, both on and off the airways…

Our Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is pleased to present to you 14DA026 Nicolas, from western Europe, a guy who makes an excellent addition to our extraordinary European team of guys!

From his home in the French Republic, 14DA026 Nicolas has been caught up in radio comms for more than 30 years.

Ambitious and goal-driven when it comes to the world’s supreme hobby, Freeband DX comms, 14DA026 Nicolas connects with our eminent club in mid-October 2022.

14DA026 Nicolas is a previous member of the Alfa Tango Club and, respected 11m data bases confirm that he’s achieved well over 160 DXCC in the course of his time in the hobby.

This means he achieves DA-RC Membership via the DX Hunter category (See: https://www.delta-alfa.com/about/membership/).

14DA026 Nicolas looks forward to entering into an exciting new DX dimension, on the back of solar cycle 25, however, with his new Delta-Alfa callsign, determined to enhance his hobby attainments in the DXCC Hunter and Dxpeditioner categories, too, in the years to come.

Named after the river Drôme, within the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 14DA026 Nicolas’ QTH is Albon, a commune in the Drôme department in southeastern France.

Its territory of 25 km² is located at the outlet of the small plain of Valloire, in the Bas Dauphiné, and on the left bank of the course of the Rhône from which it is only a few hundred meters away.

The Aero-Retro Museum, Saint-Martin-des-Rosiers Church, 2 golf courses and the Gauthier Distillery Museum (Pictured right) are just a handful of prominent local features.

One of the dx adventure hot spots on 14DA026 Nicolas’ radar is Château d’Albon, the remains of a medieval castle.

Pictured above and left, this Castles On The Air (COTA) entity appears as a square tower standing on a motte, located to the east of Saint-Romain-d’Albon.

As the photographs show, 14DA026 Nicolas has amassed a station ideal for DX-success on 27 MHz frequencies…

An Icom IC-7300 transceiver, in line with a vertical 5/8 for omnidirectional capability + a 5 element short beam yagi, comprises a superb station capable of snaring any DX station on world map.

When he’s not chasing new countries, IOTA or Special Event Stations (SES) on eleven meter band frequencies, 14DA026 Nicolas enjoys listening to music, watching movies or hiking in the great outdoors.

There are some amazing hiking trails in his local neighborhood too, such as Les Troix Crois.

This is a picturesque 13.7-km loop trail which takes roughly of 3 h 38 min to complete.

On the air though, 14DA026 Nicolas monitors frequency 27.555 MHz USB, like most DA-RC Members, where he’s QRV most days chasing rare international DX!

He’s very happy to exchange QSL cards or e-QSL to confirm a contact with his station also.
