Please see above a diagram for a 4 element quad provided by DX Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) member and antenna expert 19DA109 Marcel in the Netherlands.
This ‘weapon’ is for use on the 2 meter amateur band, comprising frequencies stretching from 144.000 MHz to 148.000 MHz in International Telecommunication Union region (ITU) Regions 2 (North and South America plus Hawaii) and 3 (Asia and Oceania) and from 144.000 MHz to 146.000 MHz in ITU Region 1 (Europe, Africa, and Russia).
Telecommunication on this band is typically conducted locally within a range of about 160 km yet this particular quad is known to break new ground.
Driver/Director/Reflector measurements, materials, spacings and instructions have also been included in the diagram.
I started building quads for 11 meters in the mid 80’s and have used them exclusively since. Some time in the 90’s we moved into a house in the country where tv was very hard to pick up, so I built a 3 element quad for the tv and it worked very well, picked up the extremes of the local television band.
