This is across a hobby career spanning some 23 years!
In the southern portion of North America, our newest Mexican recruit resides, in the northwestern part of the state of Michoacán.
This heavily populated body of land is situated on the extreme southwest of the central highlands.
Google Earth confirms that 10DA107 Cristian’s state has a large number of stunning lakes, waterfalls, lagoons, hot springs, and a natural system of waterways.
This includes 2 of the country’s largest rivers — the Lerma and the Balsas.
10DA107 Cristian lives in the third largest city in the state, Zamora de Hidalgo.
Named after the Spanish city of Zamora, this picturesque QTH is located in the northwestern part of the state, on the Tarascan Plateau.
Zamora de Hidalgo has several postcard perfect lakes, like Lake Pátzcuaro, Lake Cuitzeo, and Lake Zirahuén.
Another of the main tourist attractions here, according to Cristian, is said to be the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Constructed in 1898, this is a neo-gothic style architectural cathedral and one of the largest cathedrals of its kind in the entire American continent.
As well, a mighty spectacular church in the precinct is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
One of 10DA107 Cristian’s best nearby attractions is the Lago de Camécuaro National Park.
One of 5 national parks in Michoacán, it consists of 23.8 acres of protected area including the very beautiful Camécuaro Lake which is supplied by a series of stunning natural springs.
Shown above, the lake is popular amongst swimmers, sightseers, picnic goers and more due to its crystal clear water and the spectacular greenery which surrounds the lake.
The intriguing legend of Camécuaro says that a princess named Huanita was kidnapped by a priest named Candó, who kept her hidden in a lagoon in Cutzé.
Folklore says that Huanita cried so much that she was able to form the lake of Camécuaro with her tears.
For the purposes of elite level DX, 10DA107 Cristian has compiled an impressive station indeed which has him front and centre of 11m DX Clusters and the general 10 Division Freeband community.
Shown on the benchtop above, a Yaesu FTDX101D Contest-Class Transceiver, which covers 160 thru 6 Meters with 100 Watt on all modes, SSB, FM, CW, RTTY and Digital provides exceptional shack performance.
A Cobra Base CB radio also provides access to 27 MHz frequencies!
Outside his home, high above the streets and overlooking neighbors’ homes, a 3-element Delta Loop antenna tenders extraordinary TX and RX capability, ensuring the international DX is always within his fingertips.
When he’s not behind the microphone of his Yaesu rig with ears glued to the international call frequency, 27.555 MHz USB, or working as a successful businessman in the local community, 10DA107 Cristian enjoys riding motor cycles.
He enjoys attending social gatherings with family friends with the same interest and journeying the magnificent Michoacán countryside on 2 wheels.
10DA107 Cristian is keen to exchange QSL cards to confirm any contact with his station.
