World Contest Results
February 3, 2010 by Darren
Final placings in the inaugural 2009 DA-RC World Contest have been finalised with proficient contester 30DA016 Dave securing the prestigious first place position.
Over the two exciting contest weekends in December last year, 30DA016 Dave worked a commendable 47 stations in no less than 18 DXCC entities from Europe, Africa and Oceania. In difficult band conditions, with Solar Cycle 24 not yet providing dividends, this performance was indeed a remarkable effort!
For his sublime efforts behind the mic, Dave wins a fantastic President Jackson II transceiver, a DA-RC IOTA Directory, a DA-RC Log Book, Membership with the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS) and a beautiful full-colour certificate for the radio shack wall.
In this popular Club event which offers some amazing prizes to all placegetters, 30DA016 Dave was followed by 43DA021 Brian in second place and fellow 43 Division member 43DA007 Mike in a very close third.
Again, in tough conditions, both renowned southern-hemisphere contesters managed to log a handful of DXCC in Europe, Asia and the Oceania region, proving to all that determination and the right strategies can provide results in even the most challenging of operating environments.
Both 43DA021 Brian and 43DA007 Mike also pick themselves up some top prizes which include a DA-RC IOTA Directory, a DA-RC Log Book, a Yaesu ham prefix map, a Yaesu pen and a full-colour shack certificate each.
On behalf of all DA-RC members and the World Headquarters Team, congratulations to Dave, Brian and Mike on their excellent outcomes. Congratulations also to the many other members who submitted logs – the results for minor placings were very close
Please note that prizes and certificates will be sent via registered mail in the coming days!

Congratulations to us all for the hard work that we do, and well done to 30DA016 Dave in Spain for winning the contest as well as to 43DA021 Brian for his 2nd place. In the current DX cycle and conditions I think for myself and Brian to finish in the top 3 we did extremely well being in Australia. Again contratulations to all who entered this event.
